Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsNeither mechanical nor low-profile keyboards are automatically better for Mac desk work. The terms describe different things: mechanical refers to how a key registers a press, while low-profile describes a keyboard’s reduced height. A board can be both. Choose by the feel and height you prefer, then check its Mac layout, noise, size, connections, and fit with your desk setup.
What “mechanical” and “low-profile” mean
A mechanical keyboard uses an individual mechanical switch beneath each key. The feel depends on the particular switch: it may be tactile, linear, clicky, or designed to reduce sound. “Low-profile” refers to a shorter keyboard or key design; it does not, on its own, tell you whether a keyboard uses mechanical switches.

That distinction matters when comparing products. Logitech’s MX Mechanical Mini for Mac is a low-profile mechanical keyboard, while the MX Keys S for Mac is a separate low-profile model that Logitech describes with sculpted keys and backlighting but does not identify as mechanical on its product page. Apple’s Mac accessories category lists both Magic Keyboard and Corsair’s K65 Plus Wireless Mechanical Gaming Keyboard for Mac, illustrating that Mac-compatible options span different designs.

Start with the feel and height you want
If you prefer a laptop-keyboard-like setup or want a lower-looking board, a low-profile model may suit your preference. If you want a particular tactile response, compare the specific switches rather than relying on the word “mechanical.” Neither category establishes that you will type faster, more accurately, or more comfortably; those outcomes depend on the person and the product.

Check Mac legends and layout
Look closely at the modifier keys and printed legends, especially if you switch between a Mac and another operating system. A keyboard can connect to a Mac without having the Mac-specific key labels or layout you expect. Logitech’s cited Mac models are presented with Mac layouts; confirm the exact regional version before buying.
Consider sound in your actual room
Noise varies by model and switch. Logitech says the MX Mechanical Mini for Mac uses Tactile Quiet low-profile mechanical switches and markets them as quieter. That is a manufacturer description, not an independent sound measurement, so consider the room and people nearby—and, if possible, try the exact switch before committing.

Comfort depends on more than keyboard height
Apple’s Mac ergonomics guidance recommends relaxed shoulders, an upper arm and forearm angle slightly greater than a right angle, and a roughly straight line from wrist to hand. It also advises a light touch, relaxed hands and fingers, changing hand positions often, and taking breaks. A low-profile keyboard alone does not establish that a setup will prevent repetitive strain or discomfort.

- Multi-device, multi-OS: Pair MX Mechanical Bluetooth wireless keyboard with up to 3 devices on nearly any operating system via Bluetooth Low Energy or included Logi Bolt receiver(2)
Adjust the keyboard and your position so your shoulders can stay relaxed and your wrists are not held at an awkward angle. If you develop chronic discomfort, Apple advises consulting a qualified health specialist.

- Consider a low-profile design if its height and key feel suit the way you work, or if you want a more compact-looking setup.
- Consider a mechanical model if you have tried and prefer its particular switch feel; compare the actual switch and noise, not just the category name.
- Consider a low-profile mechanical board if you want to combine a shorter design with mechanical switches.
- Choose by the whole setup if desk space, number-pad needs, Mac legends, device switching, or lighting matter more than the category label.
There is no evidence in the cited sources establishing a universal winner for typing speed, accuracy, comfort, or health. Treat “better” as a fit decision: the right keyboard is the one whose layout, feel, size, sound, and connections work for your desk and preferences.
