SteamCharts reported an average of 269.24 concurrent Steam players and a peak of 870 in August 2026. These figures count people playing Max Payne 3 on Steam overall, not just people in multiplayer. They cannot be used to estimate lobby size, matchmaking activity, or the likelihood of finding a match.

If multiplayer is your only reason to play, the available evidence is too uncertain to justify expecting regular matches. Consider it a possible extra rather than a dependable reason to buy: the overall Steam count does not measure multiplayer participation, and recent player reports indicate that finding a session can be inconsistent. If you already own the PC game, trying multiplayer is reasonable, provided you are prepared for an empty lobby or a wait.
