Marvel’s Wolverine is a PlayStation 5 exclusive that launched worldwide on September 15, 2026. Before you tune anything, install the latest update, version 1.002.000, dated October 6, 2026. It changes the default image technique on PS5 and fixes several accessibility features. After that, the settings that matter most are the ones that change how the game plays and reads: controls and challenge, navigation help, text and visual clarity, and audio. Image and performance options come after those, because their best values depend on your display and personal taste.
Update to version 1.002.000 first
Insomniac Games’ support article for the October 6, 2026 update confirms that version 1.002.000 uses QSSR on PS5 by default to improve image detail and image stability. The same update addresses reported crashes and bugs, and it fixes accessibility problems with Navigation Assist, Lock-On, High Contrast, and Screen Reader behavior.

Check your installed version before you adjust anything. If you configured Navigation Assist, Lock-On, High Contrast, or the Screen Reader before updating, retest those settings afterward, since their behavior was changed by the fixes. Any guide you read should name the version and date it refers to, because later patches can change behavior again.

Controls, challenge, and combat
Insomniac’s official accessibility article lists the combat and challenge options that most players should review first. They are a better starting point than the image settings because they decide how hard the game is to play.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Challenge and combat tuning
- Challenge level and enemy health and damage set how forgiving combat is.
- Stealth awareness changes how easily enemies notice you.
- Dodge and parry timing, along with dodge behavior, control how precise your inputs must be.
- Lock-on behavior, sprint mode, melee behavior, and special technique input behavior control how you engage.
If you struggle with timing, lower the timing demands first and keep the rest of your challenge settings unchanged. That makes it easier to tell which change helped.
Input effort and remapping
The PlayStation Store page describes controls that can be fully customized. It also lists ways to play without rapid button presses, simultaneous presses, or button holds, and it notes touch controls as an alternative. If a combo or hold keeps causing problems, look for a hold-to-toggle or single-press alternative before you change difficulty.
Haptics and adaptive triggers
Sony says the game uses the DualSense controller’s adaptive triggers and haptic feedback. The PlayStation Store also says you can play without vibration or adaptive-trigger effects. Turning these off is a comfort choice rather than a performance change, and you do not need an additional controller to make it.

Navigation and guidance
Navigation Assist can draw a direction trail toward the nearest enemy or the current mission objective, and it includes color and camera-turn controls. Insomniac also documents traversal assistance, mission waypoint display choices, tutorials and reminders, and puzzle skipping.
Turn these on when you want clearer direction or less friction. Leave them off if you want to find your own way and read the environment. The update’s fixes to Navigation Assist and Lock-On make this a good time to test them again.
Image and motion: tune for comfort, not a single best value
Image settings are where most readers get stuck, and there is no universal correct setup. Insomniac documents Motion Blur, Film Grain, Chromatic Aberration, Depth of Field, Look Sensitivity, Camera Shake, Camera Rotation Effects, Camera Follow, and a Center Dot. Reducing motion blur, film grain, and camera shake usually produces a steadier image, and that is a preference-based change. It does not measurably improve performance.

- Flawless 4K@60Hz Video with HDMI: Delivers exceptional clarity and smoothness with its 4K@60Hz HDMI port, making it ideal for high-definition presentations and entertainment. (Note: Only the HDMI port supports video projection; the USB-C port is for data transfer only.)
- Double Up on Efficiency: The two USB-A 3.0 ports and a USB-C port support a fast 5Gbps data rate, significantly boosting your transfer speeds and improving productivity.
- Fast and Reliable 85W Charging: Offers high-capacity, speedy charging for laptops up to 85W, so you spend less time tethered to an outlet and more time being productive.
- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (7-in-1), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
For camera control, change Look Sensitivity in small steps and test it in both exploration and combat. A setting that feels fast while walking can feel too quick during fights.
Display, performance, VRR, and HDR
Options such as performance versus fidelity, 120Hz and VRR, contrast, and HDR depend on your television or monitor and your PS5 display settings. A September 14, 2026 settings video by the creator Octorious covers these topics as a checklist for viewers. That is useful for knowing which questions to ask, but it is not evidence of one optimal value.
Insomniac’s support pages and the PlayStation Store do not publish frame-rate or resolution results for each PS5 model and display combination. This guide therefore does not offer exact figures. Choose the mode that looks and feels best on your screen, and set HDR and VRR only if your display supports them.

Text, icons, and visual clarity
Insomniac lists UI text size as Standard, Large, or Largest, with separate sizing for icons and prompts. Visual options include high-contrast-related settings, customizable sense and threat colors, and controls for boss and hero health bars. The PlayStation Store separately identifies large text, color alternatives, and high-contrast visuals as accessibility features.
If HUD text is hard to read, increase text size first, then check the color options. Changing colors before text size often makes the screen harder to parse, not easier.

The audio list includes Mono Audio, Voice Boost, and Screen Reader controls, including speed and verbosity. Subtitles and captions and directional audio are also documented on the PlayStation Store page. Audio Description (English) is also part of the accessibility feature set, as described below.

- Mono Audio helps if you hear mostly from one side or use a single speaker output.
- Voice Boost raises dialogue relative to other sound.
- Screen Reader speed and verbosity should be tested together, since high speed with high verbosity can be hard to follow.
Which settings to change first
| Setting area | Documented options | Change it first if | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|---|
| Challenge and combat | Challenge level, enemy health and damage, stealth awareness, dodge and parry timing, lock-on, sprint, melee | Combat or timing feels unfair | Lower challenge can reduce the sense of accomplishment |
| Input effort | Full remapping, no rapid presses, no simultaneous presses, no button holds, touch controls | Holds or repeated presses cause strain | Changing inputs may require relearning muscle memory |
| Navigation | Navigation Assist trail, color, camera-turn controls, mission waypoints, puzzle skipping | You get lost or stall on puzzles | Less exploration and fewer self-directed discoveries |
| Image and motion | Motion Blur, Film Grain, Chromatic Aberration, Depth of Field, Camera Shake, Look Sensitivity | Motion or visual effects cause discomfort | Cleaner image is a preference, not a performance gain |
| Display and performance | Performance versus fidelity, VRR and 120Hz, HDR, contrast | You have a compatible display and want smoother or sharper output | Results depend on display and console setup; not stated per model |
| Text and visuals | UI text size (Standard, Large, Largest), icon and prompt size, high-contrast visuals, sense and threat colors, health bar options | HUD is hard to read | Larger UI can cover more of the screen |
| Audio | Mono Audio, Voice Boost, Screen Reader speed and verbosity, Audio Description (English) | Dialogue or menus are hard to follow | Screen Reader verbosity can add noise |
The accessibility scope
Aaron Jason Espinoza, Senior Community Manager at Insomniac Games, wrote on the PlayStation Blog on August 28, 2026: “Marvel’s Wolverine also includes over 100+ new, returning and improved Accessibility Features from previous Insomniac games, like High Contrast visuals, Audio Description (English), Global Game Speed, and Strong Haptic Signals.” That figure is the publisher’s own description and is not a verified count of individual options. Insomniac’s accessibility support article says these features are included on disc and through the launch update for disc copies.
Start with the options that address your actual problem, and leave the rest at their defaults until you need them.
