Marvel Rivals skins are cosmetic costumes, not gameplay upgrades. You can obtain them through the Free Battle Pass, a paid Luxury Battle Pass, the in-game store, achievements, seasonal events, ranked rewards, and Twitch Drops. The important distinction is the route, currency, and time limit: a costume shown in a Battle Pass is not automatically free, and a store bundle may have different purchase rules from a pass reward.
Offers change by season. The examples below identify their season and date so you can separate a permanent system from a limited promotion. On October 13, 2026, verify the live Battle Pass, event panel, and store in your own game before assuming that a dated offer is still available.

What a Marvel Rivals skin actually changes
Marvel Rivals treats skins as visual customization. NetEase’s official monetization explanation, published December 5, 2024, states: “We will be charging for cosmetics that will provide only visual changes, with no stat bonuses or pay-to-win elements.” A costume can change a hero’s appearance, effects, or presentation, but it does not make that hero stronger, faster, tougher, or more damaging.

Which Marvel Rivals skins are free?
Free does not mean “every costume in the game.” It means you can earn the particular reward without buying that reward or pass, usually by playing during a specified period. The main free routes are the free Battle Pass track, events, achievements, ranked milestones, and promotional drops.
Free Battle Pass rewards
The official monetization explanation says the Free Battle Pass includes one epic-quality costume and other items. You earn Chrono Tokens by completing tasks and participating in events, then use those tokens to claim pages on the pass. The exact number, costume, and supporting items are season-specific; treat the statement as a description of the system, not a guarantee of identical contents every season.
To check the current free rewards:
- Open the current Battle Pass from the main menu.
- Look for the track marked Free, separate from the Luxury track.
- Open each costume tile to see whether it is claimable on the free track or requires Luxury access.
- Review the task and event panels for the Chrono Tokens needed to unlock the page.
- Claim the item before the pass or its reward window closes, if the game displays an expiry.
A pass screen can show free and paid rewards side by side. A costume’s position on that screen is not enough evidence that it is free; its track label and unlock requirement are decisive.

Events, achievements, ranked rewards, and drops
NetEase has used several additional free or conditional routes. A named seasonal event may award a costume for completing objectives. Achievements can grant UNITS or cosmetic items. Ranked seasons can offer a costume at a stated tier, and Twitch Drops can provide a costume or accessory for watching eligible streams.
For example, the Season 10 announcement dated September 9, 2026 lists the Tetrameron season event, Twitch Drops, and a Gold-tier ranked costume, Gorr the God Butcher — Gods’ Graveyard. Those listings demonstrate the available categories for that season announcement; they do not establish that every reward was still claimable on October 13.
Season 3, announced July 3, 2025, provides an earlier example: a free Symbiote Storm event costume, Phoenix — Emerald Flames as a Gold-rank reward, a Hawkeye Twitch Drop, and an accessory-points system in the shop. These are historical examples, not current offers.

How to avoid missing a free reward
- Read the event’s end date and time zone, not just its title.
- Finish the objective before the window closes; merely starting an event usually does not reserve its reward.
- For ranked items, confirm the required tier and the season in which the reward is granted.
- For Twitch Drops, link the correct game and streaming accounts and watch only broadcasts marked eligible.
- Claim completed rewards in the Battle Pass, event, or Drops interface instead of assuming they are delivered automatically.
Are Battle Pass skins free?
Some are, and some are not. Marvel Rivals uses two tracks: a Free Battle Pass and a paid Luxury Battle Pass. The free track contains its own rewards, including a costume according to the official monetization explanation. Luxury adds further cosmetic content after you purchase access.
Both tracks use Chrono Tokens earned through tasks and events. The token is a progression resource, not the same currency as LATTICE or UNITS. Earning enough tokens does not turn a Luxury-only page into a free reward; the pass access requirement still applies.
What the Luxury Battle Pass adds
The Luxury Battle Pass unlocks additional pages and cosmetics for the season. You buy access, continue completing tasks and events, and redeem Chrono Tokens on the newly available pages. The exact contents, number of pages, price, and purchase options can change each season.

Season 10’s announcement, dated September 9, 2026, says its Godbomb Battle Pass features 10 all-new sets of heroic costumes. That count applies to the announced Season 10 pass only; it is not a universal count for every Marvel Rivals season.
Can you finish an old Luxury Battle Pass?
There is an important distinction between owning an old pass and buying one late. In a December 24, 2024 clarification, the Marvel Rivals team said an already-owned Luxury Battle Pass can be continued in a later season. You must earn new Chrono Tokens to unlock pages in that earlier pass. The same clarification says a previous-season Luxury Battle Pass cannot be purchased after its season ends.

Therefore, do not leave a paid pass unfinished on the assumption that you can buy it later. If you already own it, look for the game’s option to resume it and check which token requirements remain. If you never purchased it, the official rule does not provide a late-purchase route.

The in-game store is the direct-purchase route. Costumes are commonly presented in bundles that can include accessories, emotes, nameplates, or other cosmetics. Most costumes in a bundle may also be available individually, but that is an item-by-item rule rather than a guarantee for every bundle.
LATTICE and UNITS are different

The monetization article includes launch-era prices, but those figures are historical. Do not use them as current prices without checking the live store. Bundle discounts, individual purchase options, and availability can change between seasons and regions.
What to inspect before buying
- Open the costume or bundle details page and identify the required currency.
- Expand the contents list so you know which items are included.
- Check whether the costume has an individual purchase option.
- Read the displayed sale period or expiry date.
- Confirm the final cost in your platform’s purchase dialog before approving the transaction.
Season 10 dates show why availability changes
The Season 10 update is dated September 9, 2026 and says the season update begins September 11, 2026 UTC. Its announcement lists several limited windows:

This is why a search result, video, or older guide can be accurate about a reward route yet wrong about whether the reward is obtainable today. The game’s current Battle Pass, store timers, event tab, and official notices are the authority for live availability.
A practical decision guide
If you want skins without spending money
- Open the Free Battle Pass and mark its costume and other cosmetic rewards.
- Complete the listed tasks and events to earn Chrono Tokens.
- Check achievements, the active seasonal event, ranked objectives, and Twitch Drops for additional free routes.
- Record each reward’s deadline, especially for events and Drops.
- Claim rewards before the displayed window closes.
If you are considering a Luxury Battle Pass
- Compare the Luxury pages with the free track before purchasing.
- Estimate whether you can complete enough tasks and events to earn the required Chrono Tokens.
- Read the current season’s purchase and expiration rules.
- If you already own an older Luxury pass, resume it with newly earned tokens; do not expect to buy a previous-season pass after it ended.
If you are deciding between a store bundle and an individual costume
- Choose the individual item when the costume is sold separately and you do not want the extras.
- Choose the bundle only when its included accessories justify the displayed cost to you.
- Check whether the price is a temporary promotion and whether the bundle can disappear at the end of its window.
- Use LATTICE and UNITS only after confirming which currency the item accepts.

Because the latest season-specific information cited here is the September 9, 2026 Season 10 announcement, it cannot establish the exact inventory on October 13. Before spending currency or planning a grind, inspect these locations:
- Battle Pass: identify the current season, free and Luxury tracks, token costs, and any expiry notice.
- Events: read each objective, eligibility condition, and end time.
- Ranked: open the season rewards panel and confirm the required tier.
- Twitch Drops: check the active campaign, account-link status, watch requirement, and batch dates.
- Store: review currency, bundle contents, individual purchase availability, price, and timer.
- Achievements: look for cosmetic or UNITS rewards and the conditions still outstanding.
These checks resolve the questions that a general skin list cannot: whether the item is obtainable in your region, whether the deadline has passed, and whether the game currently requires a purchase, play objective, rank, or linked account.
