Martine is a free WordPress theme for travel agencies and small tour operators. Its block edition is the publisher’s recommended starting point for a new site; its separate Elementor edition requires the free Elementor plugin. Either can present tours and collect enquiries, but the built-in tour form does not confirm reservations or take payments.

What Martine includes

Martine is designed to display tours and give prospective travellers a way to ask about them. Tour cards can show trip length, group size, route, highlights, next departure and starting price. A sample tour detail page can present an overview, dates, price, group size, guide, day-by-day itinerary, inclusions and exclusions, and departures.

The publisher lists seven starter pages, eight colour palettes and five type pairings. It also describes visitor-controlled dark mode and reduced-motion support for sliders. These are publisher descriptions, not results of an independent theme test.

Block edition or Elementor edition?

Edition How you edit it What the publisher says is included What you need
Block WordPress Site Editor Patterns, tour page, enquiry/contact/newsletter forms and dark mode The publisher says no plugins are required for those built-in functions.
Elementor Elementor page builder Elementor widgets and an event post type The free Elementor plugin is required. The publisher recommends the block edition for new sites.

Choose the block edition if you want to work in WordPress’s Site Editor and use Martine’s built-in presentation and enquiry features. Choose the Elementor edition if your site workflow depends on Elementor and you are comfortable maintaining that plugin alongside the theme. The product page does not establish that either edition is faster or better-performing.

Does Martine handle bookings or payments?

No. The built-in tour form is an enquiry form, not a reservation or checkout system: it asks which tour a visitor is interested in, preferred dates, traveller count, contact details and an optional note. Sending the form does not reserve a place or charge a visitor.

The publisher says a filter can pass enquiries to a booking system. That makes Martine potentially useful as the tour presentation and lead-capture layer in a larger setup, but a separate booking/payment service or integration is needed to manage confirmed reservations and transactions.

Where do enquiries go, and what affects email delivery?

According to the publisher, Martine sends messages to the WordPress admin email address using wp_mail(). Whether those messages arrive depends on the site’s mail configuration and hosting environment. The publisher says an SMTP plugin may help if the host cannot send mail.

A handler filter can route enquiries to a CRM, webhook, mailing-list plugin or booking system. The theme also styles forms from Contact Form 7, WPForms, Gravity Forms, Fluent Forms, Forminator and Ninja Forms; these are optional styling integrations, not prerequisites for its built-in tour enquiry flow.

Requirements, licence and updates

The Martine product page lists WordPress 6.6 or newer and PHP 7.4 or newer, says the theme is tested up to WordPress 7.1, and identifies the licence as GNU GPL version 2 or later. These are the publisher’s compatibility statements, not independent test results. Check the live product page and your hosting environment before installing, since requirements and compatibility can change.

Because the theme is distributed outside the WordPress.org theme directory, the publisher says it checks for updates twice daily. Its disclosure says update checks send the theme and WordPress versions, PHP version, locale, multisite status and a site identifier derived from the site address using the site’s secret key. The publisher says the checks do not send the site name or personal data and identifies a filter for disabling them.

Accessibility and image/font disclosures

The publisher says it checks its eight palettes against WCAG AA for text, links and button labels in both light and dark modes. It explains that its template orange, #fe5c24, measures 3.1:1 against white and is kept for decoration, while a deeper orange, #c2410c, is used for buttons and text to meet the stated text-contrast target of 4.5:1. These are the publisher’s stated measurements and design rationale, not an independent accessibility audit; site owners should still check their own content, settings and customizations.

The publisher says Open Sans and Barlow are self-hosted and that theme photographs are from Pexels, with credits in readme.txt. Review those credits and the theme’s current documentation when adapting the imagery.

Who should consider Martine?

  • A small tour operator building a brochure-and-enquiry site: the tour cards and itinerary layout can present trip information, and the built-in form can collect leads.
  • An agency that needs confirmed inventory, reservations or payment collection: plan for a separate booking/payment system or integration; the theme’s form alone does not provide those functions.
  • A site owner choosing an editing workflow: start with the block edition for the Site Editor, particularly for a new site; use the Elementor edition when Elementor is an intentional part of the site setup.
  • A site with custom email or CRM needs: account for mail configuration and confirm that the chosen handler or integration supports the workflow you need.
