Tenki is a Rust terminal clock that adds animated rain, snow, or meteor effects around the time display. It is a small command-line app for people who want a clock in a terminal rather than a full desktop weather app; its project README describes it as a “tty-clock with weather effect.”
What Tenki does
Tenki (天気, “weather” in Japanese) uses the ratatui terminal UI library to show a clock with visual effects. Its documented modes are rain, snow, meteor, and no effect. The default effect is rain, according to the official repository.

The clock also has a DVD timer mode, a blinking colon option, and an FPS display. The README documents controls for effect color, frames per second, ticks per second, effect level, and wind behavior. These settings adjust the terminal animation and display; they do not turn Tenki into a weather forecast service.
Install Tenki
The project documents three ways to install it. Cargo and the source-build instructions require Rust tooling; Arch Linux users can use an AUR helper.

Install with Cargo
Run the command shown in the project README:
cargo install --git https://github.com/ckaznable/tenki.gitBuild from source
- Install Rust and its build tools.
- Clone the repository:
git clone https://github.com/ckaznable/tenki.git - Change into the cloned
tenkidirectory. - Run
make build, thenmake install, following any platform-specific requirements in the README.
Install on Arch Linux
The README gives paru -S tenki as an example AUR installation command. It assumes you already have the paru helper installed.
Choose an effect and tune the display
Tenki’s README lists rain, snow, and meteor effects, plus an option to disable effects. It also documents random, disabled, left, right, and one-direction-only wind choices. Effect level ranges from 4 to 1000; the project describes lower values as stronger. The defaults listed for both frames per second and ticks per second are 60.

These are documented configuration options, not a guarantee that every terminal can render smoothly at the selected rates. If the animation looks choppy or consumes more resources than you want, try reducing the frame rate or changing the effect level. Consult the repository README for the exact option names and syntax before passing CLI arguments.
