A live-blog report from New York Comic Con says Wizards of the Coast announced a Marvel-related Magic: The Gathering set called Darkhold Destiny. The report described it as “a completely original take on Marvel,” but said no cards or mechanics had been announced at the time. Wizards’ event page confirms the Magic panel and the broader Marvel collaboration, but does not name Darkhold Destiny.
What is Darkhold Destiny?
Darkhold Destiny is the name given to a reported Marvel-related Magic set in a live-blog update by Jacqueline Thomas, credited as the author of the original IGN report. The update called it “a completely original take on Marvel.” That description is the reporter’s characterization, not a quoted statement from Wizards of the Coast. Read the live-blog report.

Were cards or mechanics revealed?
No card or mechanic details were included in the live-blog update when it reported the name. The available report also does not establish the set’s characters, card designs, size, release timing, formats, or preorder details, so those should not be treated as confirmed.

When was the Magic NYCC panel?
Wizards scheduled the Magic panel for Friday, October 9, 2026, from 7:45 to 8:45 p.m. ET in North Room #406.3 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City. NYCC ran October 8–11, 2026. Wizards listed Magic at booth #1301.
What Marvel-related Magic activities were at NYCC?
Wizards’ event page listed Marvel Super Heroes-themed booth activity, a Welcome Deck while supplies lasted, and learn-to-play demos using the Marvel Super Heroes Beginner Box. Those are event offerings; the page does not identify them as Darkhold Destiny products. The Beginner Box was presented as a way to learn Magic with Marvel-themed material, not as a preview or tie-in product for the reported set.
