The documented third-party route is Magic Utilities, which says its driver enables scrolling on Windows 10. Windows’ built-in wheel settings can adjust scrolling behavior, but they do not replace that driver.
Why a Magic Mouse can connect but not scroll
Bluetooth pairing can provide basic pointer movement and clicking without enabling the Magic Mouse’s touch surface for scrolling. Magic Utilities explains that a Windows driver is needed to translate the mouse’s raw touch data into mouse events. Without that translation, the mouse may appear connected and work as a basic mouse while scrolling does not.

This distinction matters when troubleshooting: changing Windows’ wheel settings cannot install the missing translation driver. Microsoft documents those settings as controls for wheel behavior, not as a way to decode Magic Mouse touch input.

Enable scrolling with the documented Windows driver option
Magic Utilities is a third-party driver and application. Its vendor says it enables scrolling and supports Windows 10 and 11; it also advertises additional gestures and controls. Those are vendor claims, not independent test results.
#1 Best Overall
- Magic Mouse is wireless and rechargeable, with an optimised foot design that lets it glide smoothly across your desk.
- The Multi-Touch surface allows you to perform simple gestures such as swiping between web pages and scrolling through documents.
- The rechargeable battery will power your Magic Mouse for about a month or more between charges.
- It’s ready to go straight out of the box and pairs automatically with your Mac, and it includes a woven USB-C Charge Cable that lets you pair and charge by connecting to a USB-C port on your Mac.
- Check Bluetooth first. Confirm that your PC has a compatible Bluetooth adapter and working driver. If it does not, a Bluetooth USB adapter may provide connectivity, but it will not by itself enable scrolling.
- Check current compatibility and installer details. Review the vendor’s Magic Mouse feature and compatibility page and its download page before installing. Supported devices and download details can change.
- Download and install the driver/application. Follow the vendor’s installation instructions, then connect or pair the Magic Mouse as directed by the software.
- Test scrolling. Try a page or document with enough content to scroll. If scrolling remains unavailable, use the checks below rather than assuming that a Windows wheel preference will add touch support.
The download page lists version 3.1.6.1 for Windows 10 and 11, 64-bit x64 and ARM, dated 25 December 2025, and describes a fully functional 28-day trial. The page says it was last updated 23 May 2026. Confirm those details on the live page before relying on them; availability, licensing, and compatibility may change. The feature page says 32-bit support was discontinued in mid-2022 and Windows on ARM 32-bit is unsupported.
Choose the route that fits your setup
| Setup | What the documentation supports | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Regular Windows PC with compatible Bluetooth | Magic Utilities says its third-party driver supports scrolling on Windows 10 and 11. | Check current compatibility, then install the driver if you are comfortable using third-party software. |
| Windows PC without compatible Bluetooth | A Bluetooth USB adapter may address the connection requirement; it does not supply the scrolling translation driver. | Resolve Bluetooth connectivity and the driver requirement separately. |
| Intel Mac running Windows with Boot Camp | Apple’s support page documents secondary click by clicking the Magic Mouse’s upper-right corner. It does not document a scroll fix. | Use Apple’s instructions for the documented secondary-click feature; do not treat them as confirmation that Boot Camp alone enables scrolling. |
Magic Utilities says its software is compatible with Boot Camp and Windows computers, including Intel-based Macs. It also warns that original device-specific Boot Camp features will not work until the related Magic Utility has been uninstalled. If you use Boot Camp, consult the vendor’s compatibility information and consider this software interaction before changing drivers.

Check Windows settings after scrolling is available
Once a driver has made scrolling work, Windows’ mouse settings can adjust ordinary wheel behavior. In Windows 10, open Start > Settings > Devices > Mouse. The available controls can include how many lines the wheel scrolls, scrolling direction, and whether inactive windows scroll when you hover over them. Exact labels can vary by Windows build and device.

Troubleshoot when Magic Mouse scrolling still does not work
- Pointer works, scroll does not: Check whether the required scrolling driver is installed and running. Basic pointer movement alone does not establish that touch scrolling is supported.
- The mouse will not connect reliably: Check that the Bluetooth adapter and its Windows driver are compatible and functioning. A USB Bluetooth adapter is relevant only if the PC lacks compatible Bluetooth; it does not replace the scrolling driver.
- You are using Boot Camp: Separate Apple’s documented upper-right-corner secondary click from the third-party scrolling-driver option. If Boot Camp-specific device functions matter, read the vendor’s warning about uninstalling its utility before expecting original device-related Boot Camp features to work.
- Your Windows edition or processor architecture may be unsupported: Compare it with the vendor’s current compatibility and download information. The listed installer details are version-specific and can change.
- Scrolling works, but its feel is wrong: Adjust Windows’ wheel options for line count, direction, or inactive-window scrolling. These settings modify behavior after scrolling input is available.
Windows 10 support status
Microsoft says Windows 10 support ended on 14 October 2025. After that date, Microsoft no longer provides free Windows Update software updates, technical assistance, or security fixes through its standard support. This does not change the distinction between pairing and scroll-driver support, but it is important when deciding whether to keep using Windows 10. See Microsoft’s Windows 10 support-end notice.
