How the products differ
Macrium Reflect X is the current generation of Macrium Reflect, and Reflect Home is its personal-use edition. Macrium centers the product on Windows imaging, file backup, cloning, and recovery. Its feature set includes rescue media and Image Guardian, which is intended to protect backup images from ransomware. What the plans cost and include
Acronis’s US product pages list the following annual subscription prices and included cloud storage. These are vendor-listed US figures, not universal prices; confirm current pricing and availability for your region before buying.
| Acronis plan | US price listed by Acronis | Included cloud storage listed |
|---|---|---|
| Essentials | $49.99 per year | None; local-only |
| Advanced | $72.99 per year | 50 GB |
| Premium | $124.99 per year | 1 TB |
Acronis also shows higher storage options for higher tiers on its product comparison and pricing page; check the live page for exact regional terms. Macrium’s current pages do not establish a stable numeric Reflect Home price in the details available here, so check its current purchase page rather than relying on an assumed figure. Macrium says Reflect X is licensed per computer on annual plans. Its licensing policy says active annual plans include support and upgrades; if a plan lapses, the software continues in restore-only mode.

Which one should you choose?
Choose Macrium Reflect Home when
- Your main job is creating Windows system images, cloning disks, or recovering a Windows PC.
- A local backup destination suits your plan, and you do not need an included cloud-storage tier.
- You want Reflect X features such as resumable imaging and are comfortable checking the edition’s requirements for your hardware.
Choose Acronis True Image when
- You need one product’s listed platform coverage to include Windows, Mac, Android, or iOS devices.
- You specifically want cloud storage included with an eligible plan, and its storage allowance and subscription terms fit your backup set.
- You value the bundled security features rather than relying on separate security tools.
Compare the recovery job, not just the feature list
Before subscribing, identify what you need to restore: individual files, a full disk image, a cloned drive, or a complete system after a disk failure. Then check whether the product and plan cover every device involved and whether your chosen destination is local, off-site, or both. A removable external drive can serve as a local destination: Macrium documents removable USB storage as an image destination, and Acronis describes local backup to external drives. Match capacity to the data you intend to protect and use a connection supported by your computer.
Also confirm the recovery workflow before depending on either product: create recovery media and understand how you would use it to restore. Marketing descriptions do not establish restore speed. There is no independent comparative performance result in the cited product materials that proves one option is faster or more reliable overall.

What the comparison cannot establish
Macrium’s pages describe Reflect X and its licensing; Acronis’s pages describe its plans and platform coverage. They are useful for checking features and current terms, but vendor descriptions are not neutral performance tests. Acronis’s direct comparison page should be read as Acronis’s position. The sources do not provide a fair, independently run head-to-head benchmark, so choose on verified feature fit, device coverage, storage, and renewal terms—not an assumed speed or reliability advantage.
