LYNX has proposed changes to 22 Links for a planned December 13, 2026 start, but the plan is not final. As of October 3, the agency’s Board vote is scheduled for October 22. Link 701 is the only route listed for discontinuation; other changes include selected trip cancellations, route alterations, schedule adjustments and more frequent Saturday service on two Links. LYNX labels the proposal “Subject to change.”

What is proposed, and when would it take effect?

LYNX announced the proposal on September 17, 2026. The agency scheduled a Board vote for October 22 at 1 p.m. at LYNX Central Station and named December 13, 2026, as the intended effective date. Both the vote and start date are still in the future as of October 3. The Board may approve, modify or reject the proposal, so December 13 is not yet a confirmed start date. LYNX’s December 2026 service proposal announcement contains the current proposal details.

The list covers 22 Links, but that does not mean 22 routes are being eliminated. The changes range from removing specific trips to changing a route’s path, adjusting schedules or increasing frequency. Link 701 is the sole Link LYNX lists for discontinuation.

Which routes and trips would change?

LYNX’s proposal gives route-level details rather than a complete final timetable. The following table separates the type of change from the days, times or locations specified in the proposal. Where the announcement does not describe a more detailed timetable, it is not stated here.

Which changes matter most to riders?

Link 701 would end, with NeighborLinks named as alternatives

LYNX proposes discontinuing the Orange Technical College Shuttle, Link 701, and identifies NeighborLinks 811 and 812 as replacement options. That is the agency’s stated alternative; the proposal does not establish that either service offers identical stops, schedules or availability.

Link 6 would lose a segment

The proposal removes Link 6 service between Colonial Plaza SuperStop and Lakemont Avenue/Aloma Avenue. This is a segment change, not a proposal to discontinue the entire Link.

Link 407 would take a different path

For Link 407, the proposed changes combine reduced daily service to Lake Nona, a reroute via Landstar Boulevard, Meadow Woods SunRail and Wetherbee Road, and the loss of service on SR 417. The proposal also says the Link would make all local stops between Kissimmee Intermodal and Orlando International Airport. Riders should check the final route map and timetable rather than assume their existing stop or trip remains unchanged.

Links 48 and 49 would receive frequency increases

Not every proposal reduces service. Link 48 would run every 30 minutes on Saturdays until 7:45 p.m.; Link 49 would run every 30 minutes on Saturdays until 7:30 p.m. and add a 12:15 a.m. trip from LYNX Central Station to Rosemont SuperStop on Saturday and Sunday.

How can riders comment, and what happens next?

LYNX’s September 17 announcement listed online, mail and in-person ways to submit comments, with comments accepted through 5 p.m. October 12. It also listed information sessions for September 21 and 22, and a workshop from 4–5 p.m. followed by a public hearing from 5–6 p.m. on September 29. Those meetings have passed as of October 3; the listed comment deadline and Board vote have not.

Under LYNX’s service guidelines, major service changes include route eliminations and reductions that exceed specified route-level thresholds, including more than 25% of revenue hours or miles, subject to stated exceptions. The hearing process gathers comments and recommendations. Staff review the comments and provide a final recommendation to the Board; the Board may approve recommendations or propose an alternative plan.

After approved changes, LYNX says it develops updated timetables, maps and brochures. Riders should use those final materials—not this proposal—to confirm their travel date, stop and departure time. Check the LYNX announcement for proposal updates and consult LYNX’s published route information once final schedules are available.

What has LYNX said about the reason for the changes?

The proposal announcement does not give an attributable explanation from a named LYNX official for why these December changes are being considered. ClickOrlando/WKMG reported a 6.2% decrease in riders from May 2025 to May 2026 and a 9.5% decrease in total ridership from June 2025 to June 2026, and said LYNX had not named a reason for the route adjustments at the time of publication. Those are the outlet’s reported comparisons; the underlying LYNX ridership dataset is not provided here for independent verification. The reported declines should not be treated as LYNX’s stated rationale. ClickOrlando/WKMG’s September 17, 2026 report.
