Luxury smart home upgrades are most useful when they work together: lighting, shades, physical controls and sensors can form one coordinated system rather than four isolated gadgets. These four device categories are worth considering when they fit your home, routines and preferred control platform—not because the available manufacturer information proves a financial return, energy saving or performance advantage.
1. Whole-home lighting control
A whole-home lighting system can coordinate lights with shades, audio, home theater, voice assistants and access or security platforms. Lutron positions HomeWorks as a residential lighting and automation system with those integration options. Its product information is a description from the manufacturer, not an independent comparison or test. See Lutron HomeWorks.

Lutron lists a tunable-white range of 1800K–4000K for its Lumaris downlight and dimming to 0.1%; it also describes Rania lamps for layered lighting. These are manufacturer-stated specifications, not independently measured results. Consider this category if you want coordinated lighting scenes or centralized control, and first establish which fixtures, controls and other systems your project needs to support.
What to check
- Which lights, shades and other systems can be integrated with the proposed design.
- Whether control will be through an app, voice assistant, keypad, or a combination.
- Whether the system calls for professional design and installation, and what local support is available.
2. Automated shades
Motorized shades can join lighting controls in scenes that adjust both artificial light and daylight. Lutron’s luxury home information shows sheer, translucent and blackout opacity options and describes adjusting shade position as part of coordinated scenes. The right choice depends on the window and how you use the room, not simply on the fact that the shade is automated. Explore Lutron’s luxury home examples.

Choose for the window and room
- Daylight: Decide how much natural light you want to filter while maintaining the room’s intended use.
- Privacy and darkness: Consider whether the room needs daytime privacy, nighttime coverage or blackout conditions.
- Fit and fabric: Check each window’s dimensions and the available fabric and opacity options.
- Integration and installation: Confirm that the shades work with your lighting controls and that the installation suits the window and system design.
The cited manufacturer material does not establish noise levels, energy savings or service life, so those should not be assumed from the product category alone.
3. Keypads and remotes
Physical controls can make a connected home easier to use for guests and household members who would rather press a button than open an app. Lutron describes Aviena as combining a traditional mechanical toggle with a digital back end for its residential control system. Savant describes its Pro Remote X2 as controlling entertainment, lighting and climate. These examples are components of broader systems, so confirm compatibility and installation requirements before treating one as a standalone purchase. Savant calls the Pro Remote X2 “a sleek, one-of-a-kind device” and says it gives control of entertainment, lighting and climate. That is Savant’s own product language, not an independent assessment. When planning controls, decide which household routines need a dedicated button or remote and confirm exactly which functions the chosen system exposes to it.

4. Presence and environmental sensors
Sensors can supply occupancy or environmental inputs for automations—for example, letting a compatible system respond to presence or a change in a monitored condition. JINK’s official store lists a 5-in-1 Presence Sensor and a device matrix that references contact, motion, smoke, climate and ceiling presence sensing. The matrix also notes Matter-connected devices, but requirements vary by device and platform. A Matter label alone does not establish that a particular sensor works with every Matter platform or controller. Check JINK’s sensor listings.

The JINK store listed its 5-in-1 Presence Sensor at $119.57 USD when accessed on October 7, 2026. That is a time-sensitive listing, not a stable market price; check the store for the current amount and availability. Before buying, verify the exact model, region, required hub or controller, supported platform and the automations it can trigger.
