For a new multiplayer world, use Lucky Block Challenge 2.1.0 on Minecraft Java Edition 1.21.1 with NeoForge. Every player should install the identical client pack, and a persistent world should run the matching LuckyBlockChallenge+Server-[2.1.0] package. Pick a map format before anyone joins: Lucky Block race is the natural choice for head-to-head competition, while Lucky Block skyblock is better for a constrained survival challenge.
Godlike.Host offers modded Minecraft server hosting with one-click modpacks, a built-in mod installer and up to three free backups a day.
This guide explains what the pack contains, which versions are currently listed, how to coordinate client and server files, how to choose a map for your group, and what the project license allows. The compatibility details reflect listings checked on October 15, 2026.

What Lucky Block Challenge is
CurseForge describes Lucky Block Challenge as a fantasy modpack based on the Lucky Block Mod. Its defining feature is a set of custom Lucky Block maps intended for solo play or groups. The project specifically names Lucky Block skyblock and Lucky Block race as map formats, so multiplayer is part of the pack’s design rather than an improvised use.
Lucky Blocks add uncertainty to ordinary Minecraft progression: opening one can change the immediate situation, for better or worse. In a group, that randomness becomes the central social mechanic. Players can compete to reach a goal, cooperate under restricted resources, or decide whether a risky block is worth opening. CurseForge classifies the project under Multiplayer, Adventure and RPG, Exploration, and Combat/PvP, which describes the range of sessions the maps can support without implying that every map uses every category.

Current versions and loaders
The current main release listed for this guide is LuckyBlockChallenge-[2.1.0] for Minecraft 1.21.1 on NeoForge. The official file list also includes a paired dedicated-server download named LuckyBlockChallenge+Server-[2.1.0]. Treat those two files as one release line: do not combine a 2.1.0 client with a different server-pack revision.
| Source listing | Minecraft versions | Loaders | Environments |
|---|---|---|---|
| CurseForge current main release | 1.21.1 | NeoForge | Client pack and matching server package are listed |
| Modrinth project listing | 1.21.1 and 1.16.5 | Forge and NeoForge | Client and server |
Modrinth shows that the project has files for both Minecraft 1.21.1 and 1.16.5, with Forge and NeoForge entries and both client and server environments. That broader history does not make the versions interchangeable. Choose one Minecraft version and loader for the whole group; the 1.21.1 NeoForge release is the clearest target when starting a new world because it is the current main release identified by the official file listings.
Recommended Free Tools
CurseForge reported 1,864,679 project downloads in 2026. Downloads indicate that the pack is established, but they do not guarantee that two files from different versions will connect successfully.
Decide how your group will play
Make the map decision before installation. A map can determine whether players share resources, attack one another, or pursue separate objectives, and changing formats after a world has started may require a new save.
| Map format | Best fit | How to organize the session | Questions to settle first |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lucky Block race | Direct competition | Give each participant or team an equivalent starting point, then agree on the finish condition and whether interference is allowed. | Is PvP enabled? Is sabotage allowed? What counts as winning? |
| Lucky Block skyblock | Constrained survival | Decide whether players share one island or use separate islands, then define the common objective and resource-sharing rules. | Are players cooperating? Can islands trade? What happens if a key resource is lost? |
The project confirms these two formats; it does not publish universal session lengths, PvP rules, or difficulty statistics for every map. Use those as planning variables rather than promises about a particular map. If your group wants a tournament feel, a race with a clearly announced finish condition is easier to referee. If the group prefers problem-solving, skyblock’s limited space and resources create a shared challenge without requiring constant combat.

Pre-installation checklist
Write down the target before downloading anything. This prevents the most common multiplayer failure: one person installing a visually similar file from another Minecraft or loader version.

Keep a short version note in your group chat, for example: “Minecraft 1.21.1, NeoForge, Lucky Block Challenge 2.1.0.” Ask every player to confirm that line before troubleshooting. Screenshots of launcher profiles can be useful, but the version text itself is the decisive check.
Install the client pack for every player
- Choose the official project listing. Open the Lucky Block Challenge project on CurseForge or Modrinth and select the file for Minecraft 1.21.1 and NeoForge. Do not select the 1.16.5 or Forge file merely because its filename looks similar.
- Create or select the matching launcher profile. Your launcher or mod manager must show Minecraft 1.21.1 with NeoForge. If it shows another loader, stop and create the correct profile before adding the pack.
- Install the exact 2.1.0 client release. Confirm that the installed profile identifies Lucky Block Challenge 2.1.0. Let the manager resolve the pack’s listed dependencies instead of adding random versions of individual mods.
- Launch once without joining a server. A local launch verifies that the loader can read the pack and that the game reaches the title screen. If it fails here, solve the client installation first; a server cannot correct a broken client profile.
- Have every participant repeat the same process. The pack, Minecraft version, loader, and relevant configuration should match. A player who only installs a similarly named Lucky Block mod is not using the same client pack.
- Choose the map from the installed pack. Start with a new test world or the map-selection screen supplied by the pack. Confirm that the intended race or skyblock content appears before inviting the full group.
Launcher interfaces change, so button names can differ between CurseForge, Modrinth, and third-party launchers. The invariant checks are the project name, release number, Minecraft version, and loader. If any one of those differs, treat the profile as a different installation.
Set up the matching dedicated server pack
A dedicated server is the reliable option for a world that should remain available when the original host is offline. Download the server package paired with the client release: LuckyBlockChallenge+Server-[2.1.0] for Minecraft 1.21.1 NeoForge.
- Prepare a clean server directory. Use a new folder for this pack rather than dropping files into an older modpack installation. A clean directory makes it easier to identify stale mods and old configuration files.
- Download the official server package. Select the 1.21.1 NeoForge server file from the official CurseForge or Modrinth project listing. Verify the release number against the client note before extracting it.
- Extract the package and follow its included setup instructions. Server bundles may include an installer, libraries, configuration, and a start script. Run the supplied setup process in that folder and complete Minecraft’s EULA prompt when it appears; do not copy an unrelated server script from another pack.
- Start the server once for a local test. Wait for the server to finish generating its files, then stop it cleanly. This first run exposes missing runtime files before friends are asked to connect.
- Install the same map choice on the server. Use the map or world instructions included with the pack. A client can launch successfully while the server is still using a default world, so verify the actual world and map before sharing the address.
- Connect with one test player. The test client should use the exact 2.1.1? no—2.1.0 pack release and 1.21.1 NeoForge profile. Confirm that Lucky Block content loads, then invite the rest of the group.
- Keep a backup before updates. Copy the world save and server configuration before changing the pack. If a later update breaks a map, you can restore the known-good 2.1.0 world.
The server package is intended to pair with the client pack, not replace it. Players still need the client installation; downloading only the server archive will not give a player the assets and mods required to join.

Connect friends without version drift
Send one concise connection checklist with the server address and the required build line. Ask each player to verify the following before attempting to join:
- Minecraft Java Edition 1.21.1 is selected.
- NeoForge is selected, not Forge.
- Lucky Block Challenge 2.1.0 is installed.
- The game reaches the title screen with that profile enabled.
- The intended map rules have been read before entering.
If one player receives a “missing mods,” “incompatible version,” or similar handshake error, compare the four identifiers above character by character. Do not solve the problem by deleting random files from the server. First determine whether the player selected the 1.16.5 file, a Forge profile, or a different pack revision. Reinstalling the exact official client file is usually safer than manually replacing individual mod jars.
If everyone passes the version check but cannot see the server, separate a content problem from a network problem. Test locally on the host machine first. If local access works, inspect the host’s normal firewall, port-forwarding, or provider settings; those network controls are independent of the modpack. If local access fails, return to the server console and confirm that the server completed startup and loaded the intended world.
Run a fair Lucky Block race
Define the finish condition
Write the victory condition in the group chat before the first block is opened. A race can end at a specified structure, a boss encounter, a collection target, or another condition supplied by the map. The pack’s official description establishes the race format, but your group must still agree on how a winner is recognized.
Keep starting conditions comparable
Use equivalent starting positions or teams when the map provides them. Avoid giving one player extra opening attempts unless the map explicitly requires an asymmetrical role. Record any team assignments and restart rules so a lucky early drop does not become an argument about the rules.

- Cross platform play for up to five players between Pocket Edition and Windows 10
- Revamped touch controls, controller support, and a controller mapping screen

Set PvP and interference rules
Decide whether players may attack one another, steal drops, break another player’s route, or trigger hazards near opponents. CurseForge’s Combat/PvP classification signals that combat may be relevant, but it is not a universal rule for every map. State your choice before launch.
Handle unlucky failures
Agree on whether a player who dies may continue, spectate, or restart. Because Lucky Blocks are intentionally random, a restart policy prevents a single extreme result from stopping the session. Keep the decision consistent for every participant.
Run a cooperative or competitive skyblock session
Choose shared or separate islands
Skyblock can work as a cooperative island challenge or as parallel islands with a shared target. Shared islands reduce travel and make resource decisions collective. Separate islands create comparison and can be combined with a race-style finish.
Set resource and trading rules
Decide whether players may trade between islands, use communal storage, or keep discoveries private. Limited space makes accidental loss more consequential, so identify who is responsible for storing rare drops and backing up the world.
Define the common objective
Use the map’s stated objective when one is provided. If the map leaves the endpoint open, choose a measurable target before starting, such as completing a set of milestones or reaching a designated island. This gives a cooperative group a finish line without turning the session into an endless build.
Best Value
- Play and share with friends on console, mobile and Windows 10
- discover community creations in the new in-game store
- access new mini games and game modes through servers
Plan for irreversible mistakes
Make a world backup before opening the first Lucky Block and before major expansions. A skyblock void fall or destructive random event may be part of the challenge, but a backup lets the group recover from a technical error without changing the rules of the run.
Troubleshoot the problems that matter most
The game will not launch
- Check that the launcher profile is Minecraft 1.21.1 with NeoForge.
- Confirm that the installed file is Lucky Block Challenge 2.1.0, not the 1.16.5 listing.
- Remove duplicate or manually added mod files, then reinstall the official pack profile.
- Launch the profile by itself before adding custom shaders or unrelated client modifications.
The server rejects a player during login
- Compare the player’s pack release with the server package name.
- Compare NeoForge versus Forge; they are different loader choices in the project listings.
- Confirm that both sides target Minecraft 1.21.1.
- Have the player reinstall the matching client pack instead of copying files from another installation.
The expected race or skyblock map is missing
- Confirm that the map content was installed on the server as well as on the client.
- Check that the server started with the intended world or map configuration rather than a newly generated default world.
- Return to the official pack instructions for the map-selection step; do not download an unverified reupload.
A world broke after an update
Stop changing files and restore the latest known-good world backup. Recreate the server with the previous client/server pair, then test any update on a copy of the world. A release change should be treated as a migration, not as a casual replacement of one jar.
What the license allows
Kesselot’s Packs License says the modpack may be used to host private or public Minecraft servers without restriction, and it permits content creation. That makes a friends-only server, a public community server, or recorded gameplay compatible with the stated license terms.
The same license says access through the official CurseForge and Modrinth pages is free and prohibits charging users for that access. It also restricts reuploading, redistributing, altering, or modifying the modpack and its assets without permission. In practice:
- Host the official files for a private or public server as the license permits.
- Direct players to the official project pages for their own downloads.
- Do not sell access to the pack itself or charge for access to the official downloads.
- Do not mirror, repackage, edit, or redistribute the pack’s assets without permission.
- For a launcher bundle, modified asset pack, or commercial arrangement, obtain permission before distributing it.
Server hosting and content creation are different from redistributing the pack. A livestream or video using the pack falls under the stated content-creation permission; uploading a modified copy for viewers to download can create a separate redistribution issue.

Choosing a server approach
The pack’s multiplayer focus, client/server listings, and dedicated server package make a persistent server a practical choice for groups that play at different times. You can also run a temporary session from a player’s machine if everyone is online together. Decide based on availability rather than on a claim that one approach is officially required.
- Temporary host: Simple for a single evening when the host can remain online. The world is unavailable when that player stops the game.
- Dedicated server: Better for recurring sessions, rotating hosts, or a public community. It requires the matching server package and ordinary server administration such as backups and access control.
- Hosted service: A third-party server host can keep the dedicated package online, but no specific provider, price, commission, or affiliate service is established here. Verify that the host supports the required Minecraft version, NeoForge loader, custom server files, and your chosen map before paying.
A practical launch plan for a first session
- Post the agreed build line: Minecraft 1.21.1, NeoForge, Lucky Block Challenge 2.1.0.
- Have every player install and launch the same official client pack.
- Choose Lucky Block race for direct competition or Lucky Block skyblock for constrained survival.
- Write down the map objective, PvP policy, trading rules, and restart policy.
- Install the paired
LuckyBlockChallenge+Server-[2.1.0]package if the world must persist. - Start the server, verify the map, and connect with one test player.
- Back up the clean world before the group opens its first Lucky Block.
- Invite the remaining players only after the test connection succeeds.
This order isolates technical problems before they become gameplay disputes. It also gives the group a shared rule sheet, which matters as much as the files when random events and PvP are involved.
Bottom line
Use the 1.21.1 NeoForge 2.1.0 release for a new Lucky Block Challenge multiplayer world, install the identical client pack for every participant, and pair it with the official 2.1.0 server package for a persistent game. Select race when your group wants a clear competitive finish; select skyblock when the appeal is managing scarce resources together or on parallel islands. Keep the versions aligned, back up the world, and follow the license’s limits on charging, reuploading, and modifying the pack.
