Choose Loomly if you want video posts to move through a calendar, built-in media editing, previews, and approval steps; choose Buffer if your main need is scheduling finished videos and organizing ideas across social channels. Neither service is established here as a tool for producing a finished video from scratch. The difference is in preparing, reviewing, and publishing social posts—not in proven video quality or audience performance.
What “video creation” means in this comparison
Loomly and Buffer are social media workflow tools. Their documented capabilities concern planning posts, handling media, collaboration, and scheduling. Loomly describes a built-in media editor and post previews; Buffer documents video uploads and scheduling, plus tools for organizing ideas and importing media. These features do not establish that either product can record footage or replace a dedicated video editor.

That combination is useful when a post needs to be adapted and checked before it goes live, especially when more than one person is involved. It is still post preparation: the feature description does not establish that Loomly produces a complete video from raw footage.

How Buffer handles video posts
Buffer’s current feature list says all three tiers support scheduling posts, including image and video uploads. Custom video thumbnails are listed for Essentials and Team. The Free plan allows up to three channel connections and ten scheduled posts per channel; Essentials and Team list unlimited scheduled posts subject to fair use.
Buffer’s Create tools focus on organizing and preparing content. Its page describes an idea workspace, board view, RSS feeds, AI-assisted ideation, and media imports from services including Google, Dropbox, and Canva. This can help bring a video into a social publishing workflow, but the page does not establish a full video-editing suite comparable in scope to a dedicated editor.

Which workflow fits your team?
Choose Loomly when editing and review belong in the publishing process
- You want a calendar workflow that includes built-in image and video editing and post mockups.
- Posts need to be customized for different networks and reviewed before scheduling.
- Your team needs multi-layer approval workflows and the account and user allowances on a Loomly plan fit its size.
Choose Buffer when scheduling and channel-based flexibility matter most
- You already have completed video files and mainly need to schedule them.
- You want to organize ideas and import media from services such as Google, Dropbox, or Canva.
- You prefer a free tier with up to three channel connections, or paid pricing that scales by connected channel.
- Your collaboration needs align with Buffer’s Team plan rather than its solo Essentials plan.
Check the real cost for your setup
Count the social profiles you actually publish to and the people who need access. For Loomly, compare that count with the account and user allowances shown for each plan. For Buffer, calculate the current per-channel cost using your actual number of connections. A headline monthly figure alone does not make the plans directly comparable.
Check publishing requirements before choosing
Support for a general video upload does not guarantee that every network account and video format can publish the way you expect. Before paying, verify direct publishing versus reminders, supported formats, and any network-specific limitations for the exact account and format you use. Social platform APIs and vendor support can change.
If your workflow depends on Reels, Stories, or short-form video on a particular network, confirm that specific publishing path on the vendor’s current documentation rather than inferring it from general video scheduling support.
Can Buffer make a post go viral?
No scheduling service can guarantee virality. Buffer itself says the platform alone cannot make a post go viral. Scheduling and organization can help manage a publishing workflow, but reach depends on factors these product pages do not measure or promise.
