It is less compelling if you want a light, simple mouse or a battery you can replace yourself. Logitech announced it at $119.99 / €129.99; current prices and bundles vary by market.
What’s new in the MX Master 4?
Announced on September 30, 2025, the MX Master 4 is a wireless productivity mouse aimed at creative professionals, developers and business users. Its main additions to the MX Master formula are a haptic touch area and Actions Ring, a software overlay that provides quick access to tools and shortcuts. The mouse also retains programmable controls and multi-device switching.

Actions Ring requires Logi Options+. Logitech says the feature can reduce repetitive mouse movements by up to 63%, citing a 2025 Logitech Ergo Lab study involving 37 MX Master users performing eight desktop actions. That is a result from a limited, manufacturer-run study—not a general guarantee of faster work.

What the MX Master 4 does well
Customizable controls for repeated tasks
The strongest case for the MX Master 4 is its set of workflow controls. The haptic touch area and Actions Ring are designed to put frequently used tools within reach, while Logi Options+ provides app-specific shortcuts and deeper customization. These features are most useful when you have repeatable actions to map and are willing and able to install the software. If you use a locked-down work computer or prefer not to install utilities, much of the appeal is reduced.

Scrolling, tracking and quiet-click claims
Logitech specifies MagSpeed scrolling at up to 1,000 lines per second and a Darkfield sensor with resolution from 200 to 8,000 DPI, with tracking advertised on virtually any surface, including glass. Those are manufacturer specifications, not independent test results. Logitech also claims the clicks are 90% quieter than those of the MX Master 3; that comparison is with that predecessor, not with mice generally.
Switching between devices
The mouse can pair with and switch among up to three devices, according to Logitech. With Logi Options+, Logitech also describes file transfer between devices. This can suit a setup where you regularly work across more than one computer, but it is an added workflow rather than a reason to choose the mouse if you only need a basic pointer.

Rechargeable battery
Logitech rates battery life at up to 70 days on a full charge and says one minute of USB-C charging can provide up to three hours of use. Actual runtime depends on use and conditions; treat these as the manufacturer’s “up to” figures, not a guaranteed result.

What to weigh before buying
Price and value
Logitech’s announced launch price was $119.99 / €129.99. In February 2026, Tom’s Guide described the price as $119 / £119 and a drawback for some buyers. These are launch and review-period figures, not a current universal price: check local retailers for today’s price and what a regional bundle includes. The premium is easier to justify if you will use the programmable controls and device switching regularly than if you mainly need ordinary cursor control.

- Mastered for Mac: With matching Apple finishes, Logi Options+ functions for macOS (1), USB-C charging while you work (cable not included), MX Master 4 for Mac makes for a perfect fit with your Apple setup
- Precision you can feel with the Haptic Sense Panel; customizable (1) haptic feedback on specific actions, shortcuts, notifications enhancing productivity on this wireless Bluetooth mouse
- Effortlessly access favorite tools with Actions Ring (2) on this MX Series mouse—a dynamic, customizable overlay adapts to each app, placing most used filters, adjustments, and shortcuts at your cursor

- Ergonomic mouse designed for comfort, MX Master 4 for Mac keeps you in flow with a natural tilt, intuitive buttons, and a thumb scroll wheel that reduces hand stress for fluid navigation
Weight and personal fit
Logitech lists the mouse at 150 g and 128.15 × 88.35 × 50.8 mm. That weight is worth checking if you favor lightweight mice. Hand size, grip and comfort are personal; available sources do not establish a universally comfortable fit, so assess the shape and thumb controls against your own hand and working style.
Software and battery serviceability
Actions Ring and deeper customization depend on Logi Options+. If your workplace restricts software installation, confirm that you can use the features you want before buying. Logitech lists a 650 mAh battery that is not user replaceable, a tradeoff for buyers who prioritize repairability or long-term battery service.

It is an evolution, not a wholesale redesign
Tom’s Guide characterized the MX Master 4 as an evolution rather than a revolution and described haptics as potentially gimmicky. That is the reviewer’s judgment, not an established verdict for every user. If haptics and quick-access controls do not appeal to you, the new features may not be meaningful reasons to upgrade.
Is the MX Master 4 better than the MX Master 3S?
The MX Master 4’s clearest distinction is its haptic touch area and Actions Ring overlay. Logitech also claims 90% less click noise than the MX Master 3, not the 3S, so that figure should not be treated as a direct 3S comparison. Whether the 4 is a worthwhile upgrade depends on whether you want its newer workflow features and what you would pay locally; the evidence here does not establish a complete, independently tested performance comparison with the 3S.

How it compares with other alternatives
RTINGS identifies the Keychron M6 and Logitech M720 Triathlon as lower-cost alternatives with similar comfort or features. That does not establish full feature parity or current prices. Consider them if you want to explore less expensive productivity-oriented choices, then compare the specific controls, software requirements, device switching and shape you need.
Mac compatibility, Windows and versions
Logitech’s product page specifies compatibility with Windows 11 updates from the end of March 2026 onward. Check the current product page for your exact operating-system version and software environment before purchase, especially on a managed computer.
RTINGS reports that the Mac variant has the same Windows and macOS compatibility as the standard variant, and that the Mac version omits the Logi Bolt USB-C receiver while remaining compatible with one. Bundles can vary by region, so check the included accessories for the specific listing you are considering.
Quick Recap
Who should buy the MX Master 4?
- Consider it if you regularly use shortcuts, want customizable controls and haptics, and switch among multiple devices.
- Look elsewhere if low weight, a simple setup or a user-replaceable battery matters more than programmable workflow features.
- Compare before upgrading if you already own an MX Master 3S; the case for moving to the 4 rests chiefly on whether its haptics and Actions Ring suit your work.
