Logitech has not released a new MX Master 4 hardware revision. The mouse launched on September 30, 2025, and the change Logitech announced on May 20, 2026 is a software and firmware update: native haptic feedback for Windows 11, enabled on existing units through Logi Options+. Units shipping in Fall 2026 will include the feature out of the box. If you are deciding whether to upgrade, the question is whether that haptic integration and the mouse’s other features matter for your work, not whether a newer model has replaced it.
What Logitech changed in 2026
The May 2026 announcement covers Windows 11 haptic integration for MX Master 4. Logitech says existing owners can turn it on through a firmware update in Logi Options+, provided they are running the latest updated version of Windows 11. The company also says additional haptic effects for Windows 11 and for third-party applications will roll out over time, so the number of supported apps is not fixed.

Logitech’s announcement does not describe a separate mouse model, a different part number, or a revised body. Units shipping in Fall 2026 are described as supporting the feature without a separate update. The announcement does not give regional ship dates, so check with your retailer if you are buying a new unit this season.

Art O’Gnimh, General Manager of Mouse and Keyboard Solutions at Logitech, framed the change this way in the May 2026 announcement: “We integrated advanced haptic hardware into the MX Master 4 ahead of the curve, anticipating a shift toward more immersive operating systems.” That is the company’s own positioning, and it describes hardware that was already in the mouse at launch.

What the mouse does from the start
Logitech describes MX Master 4 as its newest MX Master-series mouse, aimed at creative professionals, developers, and business users. The launch announcement on September 30, 2025 called it the first MX mouse with customizable haptics. The haptic feedback sits in the thumb area, and it is the feature that differentiates the model from earlier MX Master generations.
The second headline feature is Actions Ring, an on-screen overlay that places shortcuts in a radial menu. Actions Ring requires Logi Options+. Without that software, the overlay does not run, so a computer that cannot install Logi Options+ cannot use it.

Logitech’s productivity claims
Logitech has published two productivity figures tied to Actions Ring. Both come from the company, and neither has been independently verified in the materials available.
- Up to 63% fewer repetitive mouse movements, reported in the 2025 launch announcement.
- Up to 33% time savings, reported in Logitech’s 2025 blog post about the mouse.
Logitech’s Ergo Lab also ran a study in 2025 with 37 MX Master mouse users performing eight desktop actions. Logitech presents it as the basis for its ergonomic claims. Treat those results as Logitech-supplied findings. They show what the company measured, not what your workflow will gain.

How to turn on Windows 11 haptics
If you already own an MX Master 4, the update path is the same regardless of when you bought it:
Recommended Free Tools
- Update Windows 11 to the latest available version. Logitech specifies the latest updated version, so older builds may not expose the feature.
- Install or open Logi Options+ on the computer that will pair with the mouse.
- Apply the firmware update Logi Options+ offers for MX Master 4.
- Confirm the haptic setting is active in Logi Options+. Logitech’s announcement does not give exact menu labels, so follow the on-screen prompts in the current software version.
- Test the feature in the applications you use most. Support for third-party apps is still expanding, so an effect may not appear in every program.
Decision checklist before you upgrade
MX Master 4 is a reasonable upgrade for some users and an unnecessary one for others. Work through these checks before you buy or update:
Best Value
- Mastered for Mac: With matching Apple finishes, Logi Options+ functions for macOS (1), USB-C charging while you work (cable not included), MX Master 4 for Mac makes for a perfect fit with your Apple setup
- Precision you can feel with the Haptic Sense Panel; customizable (1) haptic feedback on specific actions, shortcuts, notifications enhancing productivity on this wireless Bluetooth mouse
- Effortlessly access favorite tools with Actions Ring (2) on this MX Series mouse—a dynamic, customizable overlay adapts to each app, placing most used filters, adjustments, and shortcuts at your cursor
- Scroll 1,000 lines per second and stop on a pixel with the MagSpeed scroll wheel—Logitech’s fastest (3), quietest, and most precise (4) scrolling experience
- Ergonomic mouse designed for comfort, MX Master 4 for Mac keeps you in flow with a natural tilt, intuitive buttons, and a thumb scroll wheel that reduces hand stress for fluid navigation
- Applications: Haptics only matter in software that supports them. Windows 11 coverage is growing, and third-party coverage is still described as in progress.
- Operating system: Haptics require Windows 11 with the required update. Confirm your system, and check Logitech’s current compatibility notes for macOS or other platforms if you use them.
- Software dependency: Actions Ring and the haptic setup both depend on Logi Options+. If your organization restricts software installation, plan for that.
- Connectivity: The mouse uses Bluetooth Low Energy, not a receiver-only design. Check that your computers support Bluetooth LE before you buy.
- Size and weight: At 128.15 × 88.35 × 50.8 mm and 150 g, the mouse is a full-size model. Compare it with your current mouse in your hand.
- Battery and charging: The 70-day figure assumes a full charge under Logitech’s test conditions. Bring a USB-C cable, because one is not included.
- Price and availability: The launch and update announcements do not state a current price or regional availability. Compare local retailer pricing directly before deciding.
Limits of the available evidence
The clearest facts here come from Logitech’s own announcements and product specifications, dated September 30, 2025 and May 20, 2026. Those sources establish the feature set and the Windows 11 update. They do not establish that MX Master 4 is better than competing mice, and they do not provide independent benchmarks for battery life, sensor accuracy, or productivity gains. No independent review of the haptics update was available at the time of writing, and the prices, retailer stock, and regional color options were not established.
Readers who need certainty on a specific workflow should test the mouse on their own machine and software setup, ideally with the return window in mind.
The Bottom Line
MX Master 4 is not a relaunch with a new hardware version. It is a 2025 mouse that gained native Windows 11 haptics through a 2026 firmware update, and its value depends on whether those haptics, Actions Ring, and the Logi Options+ software fit your apps and operating system.
