Start with these four checks: confirm power, reconnect the mouse using its actual connection method, reduce wireless interference, then test it on another computer. The right steps depend on whether your Logitech mouse is wired, uses a USB receiver, or connects over Bluetooth, and on the specific model.
1. Check the mouse’s power
Make sure the mouse is switched on. If it has a rechargeable battery, charge it. If it uses replaceable batteries, try fresh cells of the type specified for your model; Logitech notes that low battery can cause a wireless connection to fail. Battery types and power designs differ, so don’t assume every mouse takes AA batteries. See Logitech’s connection guidance.

2. Check how the mouse connects
If it uses a USB receiver
Unplug the receiver and reconnect it directly to a working USB port on the computer. During troubleshooting, bypass hubs and KVM switches, and try another port. If it is plugged into a USB 3.0 port, Logitech also suggests testing a USB 2.0 port. Its general connection guidance covers these checks.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsIf the computer still does not recognize the receiver, Logitech’s receiver troubleshooting recommends checking recognition in Device Manager, trying a direct port and another computer, and examining the receiver.

- Your hand can relax in comfort hour after hour with this ergonomically designed mouse. Its contoured shape with soft rubber grips, gently curved sides and broad palm area give you the support you need for effortless control all day long.
- You’ve got the control to do more, faster. Flipping through photo albums and Web pages is a breeze, especially for right-handers—with three standard buttons plus Back/Forward buttons that you can also program to switch applications, go full screen and more. And side-to-side scrolling plus zoom gives you the power to scroll horizontally and vertically through your music library, maps and Facebook feeds, and zoom in and out of photos and budget spreadsheets with a click.* * Requires Logitech SetPoint software (Windows) or Logitech Control Center software (Mac OS X)
- Two years of battery life practically eliminates the need to replace batteries. ** The On/Off switch helps conserve power, smart sleep mode extends battery life and an indicator light eliminates surprises. ** Battery life may vary based on user and computing conditions.
- The tiny Logitech Unifying receiver stays in your laptop. There’s no need to unplug it when you move around, so there’s less worry of it being lost. And you can easily add compatible wireless mice and keyboards to the same wireless receiver.
If it connects over Bluetooth
Turn on the mouse and use the pairing control specified for that model. Then select it in your computer’s Bluetooth settings. The precise menus differ between Windows and macOS versions; if pairing will not start, check the model’s documentation. Logitech’s pairing instructions describe the general process.
If it is wired
Reconnect the cable and try a different computer USB port. If the mouse still does not respond, continue to the distance and second-computer checks only if they apply to your setup; they are intended for wireless connections.

3. Reduce distance and wireless interference
For a wireless mouse, move it closer to its receiver or host computer. While testing, move other electrical or wireless devices away from the connection path. Logitech lists devices including wireless speakers, monitors, phones, and computer power supplies as possible sources of interference in its connection guidance.
For the M280, M320, and M275 models specifically, Logitech suggests keeping other electrical devices at least 8 inches (20 cm) away. That distance is model-specific guidance, not a universal guarantee for every mouse; see the M280/M320/M275 troubleshooting page.

4. Test the mouse on another computer
If one is available, connect the mouse to a second computer. Logitech recommends this test in its mouse connection troubleshooting. If it works there, focus on the original computer’s USB port, Bluetooth settings, or platform configuration. If it remains unrecognized, the problem may persist across devices; this test narrows the possibilities but does not by itself identify the failed component.

Logitech mice can use 2.4 GHz USB receivers, Unifying receivers, or Logi Bolt. Identify the receiver by its model number or printed logo before attempting pairing or replacement. These receiver technologies are not interchangeable, and a replacement must be compatible with the exact mouse model. Logitech’s receiver pairing and troubleshooting page provides more detail.
