Logitech says its Logi Options+ customization app is now available for Googlebook, letting owners of six named Logitech mice and keyboards map physical controls to Gemini features including Magic Pointer. A dedicated Logitech mouse button is optional: Googlebook also lets users start Magic Pointer from the status bar, with a cursor wiggle, or with the Action + G keyboard shortcut.
What Logitech’s Googlebook support adds
In an announcement on October 5, 2026, Logitech said Logi Options+ is available for Googlebook. The app lets users customize supported Logitech peripherals and assign physical buttons or keys to Magic Pointer, Circle to Search, and Gemini Dictation/Text. Logitech says a mouse button or key can be assigned to open Magic Pointer; cursor wiggle is another option.

The software is a control-customization layer, not a requirement for using Magic Pointer. Google documents several ways to activate that feature without assigning a Logitech control.

Logitech’s launch announcement names these six products as compatible with Googlebook:
#1 Best Overall
- Your hand can relax in comfort hour after hour with this ergonomically designed mouse. Its contoured shape with soft rubber grips, gently curved sides and broad palm area give you the support you need for effortless control all day long.
- You’ve got the control to do more, faster. Flipping through photo albums and Web pages is a breeze, especially for right-handers—with three standard buttons plus Back/Forward buttons that you can also program to switch applications, go full screen and more. And side-to-side scrolling plus zoom gives you the power to scroll horizontally and vertically through your music library, maps and Facebook feeds, and zoom in and out of photos and budget spreadsheets with a click.* * Requires Logitech SetPoint software (Windows) or Logitech Control Center software (Mac OS X)
- Two years of battery life practically eliminates the need to replace batteries. ** The On/Off switch helps conserve power, smart sleep mode extends battery life and an indicator light eliminates surprises. ** Battery life may vary based on user and computing conditions.
- The tiny Logitech Unifying receiver stays in your laptop. There’s no need to unplug it when you move around, so there’s less worry of it being lost. And you can easily add compatible wireless mice and keyboards to the same wireless receiver.
- MX Master 4 mouse
- MX Anywhere 3S mouse
- MX Keys S keyboard
- MX Keys Mini keyboard
- Mobi Fold keyboard
- Keys-to-Go 2 keyboard
This is Logitech’s named launch list, not confirmation that every Logitech mouse or keyboard works with Logi Options+ on Googlebook. The company says its products recommended for Googlebook are available through Logitech.com and retailers where Googlebook is sold in North America, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Australia, and New Zealand; availability of an individual model may vary by retailer.
How to start Magic Pointer
Google describes Magic Pointer as a way to point to and select on-screen content, then ask Gemini questions about it, compare selected items, or create something using that content. Google’s help page lists these activation methods:
Rank #2
- Compact Mouse: With a comfortable and contoured shape, this Logitech ambidextrous wireless mouse feels great in either right or left hand and is far superior to a touchpad
- Durable and Reliable: This USB wireless mouse features a line-by-line scroll wheel, up to 1 year of battery life (2) thanks to a smart sleep mode function, and comes with the included AA battery
- Universal Compatibility: Your Logitech mouse works with your Windows PC, Mac, or laptop, so no matter what type of computer you own today or buy tomorrow your mouse will be compatible
- Plug and Play Simplicity: Just plug in the tiny nano USB receiver and start working in seconds with a strong, reliable connection to your wireless computer mouse up to 33 feet / 10 m (5)
- Better than touchpad: Get more done by adding M185 to your laptop; according to a recent study, laptop users who chose this mouse over a touchpad were 50% more productive (3) and worked 30% faster (4)
- Status bar: Choose Magic Pointer from the status bar.
- Cursor wiggle: Enable the cursor-wiggle preference in Settings, then wiggle the cursor to bring up the feature. You can adjust its sensitivity.
- Keyboard shortcut: Press Action + G.
- Configured mouse control: Assign a supported mouse button to Magic Pointer in the companion app where available.
Google says users can select one or multiple screen items, up to 10 at a time. The ability to map a mouse button is therefore a convenience for users who prefer a physical control, rather than a prerequisite for selecting content or invoking Gemini.
Set up Magic Pointer and customize a control
- Prepare Gemini: Set up the Gemini app and sign in, then make the Google app the device’s default assist app, as Google’s help instructions require.
- Enable Magic Pointer: Open Settings → System → Interaction → Magic Pointer and turn on the feature.
- Choose a launch method: In the same settings area, enable cursor wiggle if you want gesture activation and tune its sensitivity, or use Action + G or the status-bar control.
- Assign a Logitech control: For a compatible Logitech device, use Logi Options+ to customize a button or key for the desired supported Gemini feature. Logitech’s announcement lists Magic Pointer, Circle to Search, and Gemini Dictation/Text as mapping targets.
Availability depends on device, location, and language
Google says Magic Pointer is available on Googlebook devices in countries where Gemini is available. Its help page lists English, German, French, and French Canadian as supported languages. Having a compatible Logitech peripheral does not by itself establish that Magic Pointer is available in a particular location or language.

Google introduced Googlebook as a laptop category built on the Android technology stack with desktop foundations from ChromeOS. Its September 21, 2026 launch post named Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP, and Lenovo as initial device makers. Google said U.S. retail availability would begin October 4, followed by Canada, the U.K., Ireland, France, Germany, and Australia on October 5. Those are the dates and markets in Google’s launch announcement; current retailer listings should be checked for present availability.

Logitech and Google frame the integration as a way to reach Gemini tools through physical controls and interact with selected screen content. Those are company descriptions of intended use, not independent evidence of faster work or measured productivity gains. The announcements do not provide comparative tests or quantified outcomes for Logi Options+ or Magic Pointer.

- Click more. Scroll more. Do more. Logitech Marathon Mouse M705 uses far less power than comparable wireless mice from other companies. That means you can go up to three full years between battery changes.*
- Hyper-fast scrolling lets you fly through long documents and Web pages with a single spin of a nearly frictionless metal scroll wheel.
- The sculpted, right-hand shape guides your hand to a naturally comfortable position and places customizable control within your reach. Two thumb buttons lets you move quickly between Web pages.**
- The tiny Logitech Unifying receiver stays in your laptop. There's no need to unplug it when you move around, so there's less worry of it being broken or lost. And you can easily add compatible wireless mice and keyboards to the same wireless receiver.
- Laser grade tracking delivers smooth, responsive, precise cursor control on surfaces that cause problems for standard optical mice, such as polished or wood-grain tables.***
Google’s launch post also stated that Googlebook pricing starts at $899, its NPU is capable of over 45 TOPS, and battery life is up to 14 hours. These are Google-published launch specifications, not independent test results, and they do not establish how Logitech’s control mappings perform in everyday use.
