If Logic Pro can’t find your audio interface, first check whether macOS sees it, then select it in Logic’s audio-device settings. Confirm the connection and power, check driver and macOS compatibility with the interface maker, and test with built-in audio to isolate the cause. A sample-rate check is useful when Logic reports a synchronization problem, but it is not the first fix for an interface missing from the device list.
Does macOS see the interface?
Logic Pro uses Core Audio to recognize installed audio hardware and takes its default settings from Audio MIDI Setup. Open Applications > Utilities > Audio MIDI Setup and look for the interface. This separates two different problems: macOS not detecting the hardware, and Logic detecting it but not using it.

If the interface is missing from Audio MIDI Setup
- Check that the interface is powered as required and that its cable is firmly connected.
- For troubleshooting, connect it directly to the Mac rather than through a hub or a daisy chain. Apple notes that hubs and daisy-chaining can cause latency, particularly with slower USB 1.1 devices; this is a reason to simplify the connection path, not evidence that every hub prevents detection.
- Check the interface maker’s instructions for whether your model needs a driver. Some Core Audio-compliant devices work without one; others require a manufacturer driver and configuration.
- Confirm that the driver and interface are compatible with the macOS version installed on your Mac. Follow the maker’s current instructions rather than assuming a driver intended for an earlier system will work.
Apple explains how Logic uses macOS audio-device defaults in its guide to configuring audio devices with Logic Pro.

- Select the interface as the input device. If you also need it for playback, select it as the output device too.
Apple recommends avoiding separate input and output devices if possible. For connection guidance, see its Logic Pro guide to connecting audio devices. Menu labels can vary between Logic releases, so follow the labels in your installed version.
Did the problem start after a macOS or Logic update?
An update can affect whether an interface or its driver works with the installed software. Check the interface manufacturer’s current compatibility information for your exact model and macOS version, and install or configure a driver only as that manufacturer directs. Apple’s Logic Pro troubleshooting guidance also advises checking compatibility when audio trouble follows a system or app update.

Does Logic work with built-in audio?
Testing with the Mac’s built-in audio helps distinguish an interface problem from a problem with Logic or a project. Disconnect external audio devices and test Logic with built-in input and output, then reconnect external devices one at a time and retest. If Logic works with built-in audio but not with the interface, focus on the interface’s connection, driver, compatibility, or possible need for service. Apple recommends this isolation approach in its Logic Pro troubleshooting steps.
If Logic will not open normally
Apple documents a way to test Logic without audio input and output: open Logic while holding Control, then choose Don’t Launch. If Logic opens in that mode, the problem may involve the interface or a third-party Audio Units plug-in. This test helps narrow the cause; it does not by itself identify which one is responsible.

- PLUG IN AND HEAR SOUND IN SECONDS - USB Type-A connector with a 3.5mm stereo headphone output and a separate 3.5mm mono microphone input. No drivers, no software, no external power - the adapter is USB bus-powered and is recognized as a standard USB audio device.
- WORKS ON WINDOWS, MAC AND LINUX - Driverless on Windows 98SE/ME/2000/XP/Server 2003/Vista/7/8, Linux and Mac OSX, and compliant with the USB Audio Device Class 1.0 specification, so any system that supports class-compliant USB audio will see it. Select it as the sound output and input device after plugging it in.
- TWO JACKS, TWO JOBS - The green jack is stereo OUT for headphones or powered speakers; the pink jack is mono microphone IN for a 3.5mm mic. It does NOT support 4-pole headsets on a single combo plug, it does NOT power passive speakers, and it does NOT add surround sound - it is a stereo 2-channel adapter.
- FOR LAPTOPS AND DESKTOPS THAT NEED AN AUDIO PORT BACK - Adds a headphone and mic port to a laptop, desktop, or mini PC whose onboard jack has failed or was never there. Managed and work-issued computers can block new USB audio devices by policy - check with your IT department before ordering for a company machine.
- SABRENT SUPPORT AND WARRANTY - What is in the box: one USB audio sound adapter. Backed by a 1-year limited warranty, extended to 2 years when you register within 90 days on the manufacturer's website.
Is Logic showing a sample-rate or synchronization alert?
Use sample-rate checks when the interface is detected but Logic reports an audio/MIDI synchronization issue—not as the first remedy for an interface absent from the device list. Compare the project’s sample rate with the rate set for the interface. If you use an aggregate device, check its clock-source setup as well. Apple’s audio and MIDI synchronization guidance covers these checks.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Which troubleshooting path fits?
- Not listed in Audio MIDI Setup: Check power and the direct connection, then investigate model-specific driver and macOS compatibility requirements.
- Listed by macOS but unavailable in Logic: Select the interface under Logic Pro’s Audio > Devices settings.
- Failure began after an update: Check current compatibility and driver guidance from the interface maker.
- Logic works with built-in audio: Reconnect external devices one at a time to isolate the interface or another device.
- Interface is detected but a sync alert appears: Check sample rate and, for aggregate devices, clock source.
Apple’s cited setup and connection guides were published for Logic Pro 10.7 and macOS 11, so labels may differ in newer versions. Use the equivalent controls in your installed Logic release and consult the manufacturer for current model-specific instructions.
