Product Hunt’s alternatives page names Retro, BeReal., WOLO, Snapshare Widget, Vibes Widget, and Love & Noteit Widget among options to investigate—but its short directory descriptions are not a verified feature comparison. What Locket does—and what counts as an alternative
Locket centers on close-friends photo sharing through a phone widget: send a picture in the app, receive friends’ pictures on your Home Screen, react, and keep an image history that can include recap videos. Apple’s App Store listing states a 20-friend limit. Locket’s own help materials describe it as an app for people who already know one another, without stranger discovery. That makes “alternative” a matter of fit, not just whether another app has a widget. You may want a private photo journal, a prompted daily photo routine, a lock-screen experience, or a broader social network. Product Hunt offers leads in those directions, but does not provide consistent evidence about each app’s current features, supported phones, or availability. How to choose among Locket and the alternatives
Decide where you want to see photos
Locket’s defining placement is the Home Screen widget. Product Hunt explicitly describes Snapshare Widget in similar terms and Vibes Widget as lock-screen-oriented; it does not give comparable placement details for every listed option. Check whether an app shows photos in a widget, a journal, an in-app feed, or more than one place—and whether that works on your particular phone.

Match the sharing circle to your privacy expectations
Locket says it is designed for people who already know each other and does not offer stranger discovery. If a private, familiar group is essential, verify each alternative’s audience and discovery settings rather than assuming that “friends” in a short directory description means the same thing. Locket Help Center.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesPick a sharing rhythm
Some people want informal, ongoing photo sharing; others prefer a prompt or a defined cadence. Product Hunt’s “One Day, One Photo” summary for WOLO suggests a different rhythm from Locket’s casual widget-based premise, but the directory does not confirm the app’s current mechanics. Check the app itself before deciding that its routine fits yours.

Check every member’s platform
Locket has listings on both Apple’s App Store and Google Play, but that does not guarantee identical features across iOS and Android. For any alternative, check current availability and requirements separately for each person’s device. Apple App Store listing; Google Play listing.
Consider memories and interactions
If you care about more than a live photo widget, compare reactions, archived images, recap videos, and any music integration. Locket’s App Store description mentions reactions, an image history, and recap videos; do not assume the alternatives offer equivalents unless their current official listings say so. What the available ratings and download figures can tell you
Store figures are snapshots, not a reliable way to rank these alternatives. At retrieval in 2026, Apple’s U.S. App Store listing showed 4.8 stars from 563K ratings. Google Play showed 4.6 stars from 388K reviews and a 10M+ download band; its Locket listing showed an update date of September 10, 2026. Ratings and counts can change, and the download band is not a user count or an active-user figure. These marketplace metrics do not establish comparative quality or satisfaction.
