What the iPhone app lock changes
The lock gates access to Snapchat on the iPhone where you enabled it. Apple says information from a locked app is excluded from some other iPhone locations, including notification previews, Search, Siri suggestions, and call history. The locked status does not sync through iCloud, so it does not automatically lock Snapchat on your other devices. See Apple’s explanation of locking or hiding apps.

Face ID app lock and Snapchat passkeys do different jobs
Apple’s app lock asks for authentication to open Snapchat. A Snapchat passkey, by contrast, is an account sign-in method: it can use Face ID, Touch ID, or a passcode already available on the device. Snapchat says it cannot access your biometric data. Passkeys are added in Snapchat under My Account → Passkey → Add Passkey, but Snapchat says the feature is rolling out gradually and may not be available to every account. Details are in Snapchat’s passkey guide.
What about Android?
The steps above apply to iPhone. App-lock features and menu labels on Android can differ by phone maker and software version; a broadly applicable official Snapchat or Android procedure is not established here. Check your phone maker’s official support instructions for your specific model rather than assuming the iPhone steps apply.
