Use a 400 × 400 pixel square for a LinkedIn business Page logo. LinkedIn lists 268 × 268 pixels as the minimum, accepts PNG or JPEG files, and allows a maximum file size of 3 MB. These limits apply to a company/Page logo, not a personal LinkedIn profile photo.
LinkedIn business profile picture size at a glance
LinkedIn calls a business profile picture a Page logo. The safest production file is a centered, high-resolution image at 400 × 400 pixels.
| Specification | LinkedIn Page logo requirement |
|---|---|
| Recommended dimensions | 400 × 400 pixels |
| Minimum dimensions | 268 × 268 pixels |
| Aspect ratio | 1:1 square |
| Accepted formats | PNG or JPEG |
| Maximum file size | 3 MB |
LinkedIn’s official image specifications for LinkedIn Pages and Career Pages recommend using the stated dimensions and choosing a high-resolution JPEG for the best image resolution. A PNG remains an accepted format, and may be preferable when your artwork needs transparency or very sharp, flat edges.
What the 400 × 400 canvas means for your logo
Keep the file square
Create a 1:1 canvas before exporting. A rectangular source can be placed on a square canvas, but do not stretch it to fill the square; distortion is more noticeable after LinkedIn scales the image down.

Center the important artwork
Place the symbol or wordmark in the center and leave clear space around it. LinkedIn displays the logo at different device and screen sizes, so details close to an edge can be clipped visually or become hard to distinguish. Small taglines, thin strokes and long text often disappear when the logo is shown at a compact size.
Check light and dark backgrounds
LinkedIn states that a logo appears on both light and dark backgrounds. If you export a transparent logo, inspect it against white as well as a dark background before uploading. LinkedIn displays a transparent logo on white, so a white mark or a very pale outline can lose contrast in that context.
Choose a suitable export
- JPEG: LinkedIn recommends a high-resolution JPEG for best image resolution. Use a high quality setting and avoid repeatedly re-saving the file.
- PNG: Useful for transparency and crisp, flat-color graphics. Confirm that the final file is still under 3 MB.
Business Page logo versus personal profile photo
Do not apply the Page-logo limits to an employee’s personal profile. LinkedIn publishes separate guidance for those two identities.
| Comparison | Business Page logo | Personal profile photo |
|---|---|---|
| Identity represented | Company or organization | Individual person |
| Recommended/ideal dimensions | 400 × 400 pixels | 400 × 400 to 7680 × 4320 pixels |
| Minimum stated by LinkedIn | 268 × 268 pixels | Not stated in the supplied personal-profile guidance |
| Maximum file size | 3 MB | 8 MB |
| Typical subject | Centered logo or brand mark | Clearly visible person |
The personal-photo range comes from LinkedIn Talent Solutions’ professional profile-picture guidance. It is not a replacement for the Page logo specification.

- Start with the original artwork. Use the largest clean version of your logo, preferably a vector export or an image larger than 400 pixels so downscaling does not enlarge blur.
- Build a 400 × 400 pixel square. Set both width and height to 400 pixels. If the source is rectangular, add background space rather than squeezing the mark.
- Apply safe margins. Keep the meaningful parts away from all four edges. Test the mark at a small display size; if the name cannot be read in that preview, simplify the design or use a symbol-only variant.
- Test contrast. View the result on white and dark backgrounds. For transparent files, confirm that every part of the mark remains visible on white.
- Export as PNG or JPEG. Use a high-quality JPEG when the design is photographic or contains gradients. Use PNG when transparency or hard-edged graphics are important.
- Check the file weight. Confirm that the exported file is no larger than 3 MB. If it is too large, reduce unnecessary metadata or compress it without changing the 400 × 400 dimensions.
- Inspect at 100 percent and at a small preview. Look for halos, jagged diagonals, compression blocks and text that becomes unreadable when reduced.
If an upload appears blurry or pixelated, LinkedIn suggests compression tools such as Trimage for Windows or ImageOptim for Mac. Compression should reduce file weight without shrinking the canvas below the recommended dimensions.
Uploading the logo to a LinkedIn Page
Use the Page’s administrator view and open the control for editing its logo or image. Select the prepared PNG or JPEG, confirm the preview, and save the Page changes. LinkedIn’s interface labels can change by account type and product release, so follow the image-edit control shown in your current Page-admin screen.
- Verify that the selected file is square and at least 268 × 268 pixels.
- Verify that the file extension and actual encoding are PNG or JPEG.
- Verify that the file is 3 MB or smaller.
- Review the saved logo on both light and dark areas of LinkedIn, not only in the upload dialog.
Troubleshooting common Page-logo problems
The file is rejected for size
Check both dimensions and file weight. A file can be 400 × 400 pixels yet still exceed 3 MB because of an inefficient export. Re-export at high-quality JPEG settings or compress the PNG, then confirm the resulting file remains square.
The logo looks blurry
Blurriness usually comes from starting with a small source, enlarging a raster image, or applying excessive compression. Return to the original artwork, export at 400 × 400 pixels or larger, and use a high-resolution JPEG as LinkedIn recommends. Compression tools can remove excess file data, but they cannot restore detail that was never in the source.

Rank #3
The logo looks cropped or cramped
Place the mark on a larger square area with more padding. Do not let letters or distinctive shapes touch the edge. Recheck the result at the smallest size where your Page logo is likely to be viewed.
A transparent logo disappears
Inspect the transparent file on white. LinkedIn displays transparent logos on white, so white artwork or low-contrast outlines may become invisible. Add a contrasting treatment or export a version with a deliberate background color.
The logo works on one background but not another
Because LinkedIn can show the logo on light and dark backgrounds, adjust the mark for contrast in both situations. A simple, solid-color version often survives the change better than a detailed or very thin design.
The uploaded image is technically correct but still looks poor
Check the design itself: tiny text, narrow strokes, complex illustrations and edge-to-edge artwork do not scale reliably. Create a simplified Page-specific lockup while preserving the same brand colors and recognizable symbol.

How to verify the finished logo
- Open the saved Page while signed in as an administrator and as a normal viewer if possible.
- Check the logo at desktop and mobile widths.
- Look for contrast against white and dark interface areas.
- Confirm that the mark remains centered and that no important detail is clipped.
- Ask someone unfamiliar with the brand whether the symbol is recognizable at a small size.
This final check catches problems that a dimension validator cannot: weak contrast, unreadable text and a logo that is technically square but visually off-center.
Or skip the browser setup
If you need a rendered view of a public Page or another URL for documentation, QA or an automated workflow, ScreenshotNeo returns a screenshot or PDF with one GET request. It is separate from LinkedIn’s upload rules: use the 400 × 400 PNG or JPEG specification when setting the Page logo, and use ScreenshotNeo when you need an automated capture of what a web page displays.
cURL:
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://www.linkedin.com -o shot.webp
Python:
import requests
r = requests.get("https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot", params={"access_key": "YOUR_API_KEY", "url": "https://www.linkedin.com"}, timeout=90)
open("shot.webp", "wb").write(r.content)
Node.js:
const q = new URLSearchParams({ access_key: 'YOUR_API_KEY', url: 'https://www.linkedin.com' });
const res = await fetch(`https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot?${q}`);
See the ScreenshotNeo documentation for request options. Before capture, it can accept cookie or consent banners and remove more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups and chat widgets; each step can be disabled. Only clean shots are billed: bot checks or CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads and cache hits cost nothing, and the response identifies the page verdict and billing status with X-Page-Verdict and X-Billed headers. Its MCP server provides take_screenshot, get_page_info and capture_pdf tools for Claude, Cursor and other MCP clients. The Free plan includes 1,000 screenshots per month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 screenshots. Create a free ScreenshotNeo account.
FAQ
Can a Page logo be animated?
The stated Page-logo formats are PNG and JPEG. Prepare a static file in one of those formats rather than relying on an animated format.
Should the company name be written inside the logo?
Only if it remains legible at a small size. A compact symbol or short wordmark is usually easier to recognize than a long tagline inside the same 400-pixel canvas.
Best Value
Is 268 × 268 good enough for a new upload?
It meets LinkedIn’s listed minimum, but 400 × 400 is the recommended target and gives the platform more source detail for resizing.
Do these dimensions apply to a Career Page?
The linked LinkedIn specification covers LinkedIn Pages and Career Pages. Confirm the current upload screen if your organization uses a specialized Page configuration.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will changing the logo dimensions change LinkedIn Page ownership or verification?
No. Dimensions control the image file; they do not establish ownership, verification or administrator permissions.

Can I replace the Page logo later without rebuilding the Page?
The logo is an editable Page image. Replacing it changes the displayed brand mark, while the Page itself and its content remain separate.
Why does a logo look different in search results than on the Page?
LinkedIn can resize the same source differently in different interface locations. Design for clarity at small sizes and keep the artwork centered with margin.
