To let Netflix find a compatible TV or streaming device, open Settings > Netflix on your iPhone and turn on Local Network. Then connect the iPhone and receiver to the same Wi-Fi network and make sure the receiver is awake. This only enables device discovery; the receiver must also support Netflix casting.

Confirm that your iPhone is running iOS 16 or later, which Netflix requires for iPhone and iPad casting.

Open Netflix and check for the cast icon while the receiver is powered on.
Enabling Local Network does not make every smart TV discoverable. Netflix’s published cast-compatible list is limited to Chromecast (3rd generation or older, without a physical remote), Google Nest Hub Smart Display, and select cast-enabled Vizio and Compal TVs. Why won’t my iPhone find my smart TV?
A TV can have the Netflix app and still not accept a cast from Netflix on an iPhone. Casting compatibility is separate from having Netflix installed: check whether the receiver is on Netflix’s cast-compatible device list. If it is not, use the Netflix app on the TV with its remote, or choose a supported wired connection instead.
Check Wi-Fi and receiver status

Connect the iPhone and receiver to the same Wi-Fi network. If your router shows separate 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz network names, make sure both devices are using the same one.

Make sure the receiver is on, not asleep. Restart it and the iPhone, then try again.

If you use Chromecast, update Google Home on the iPhone and confirm in Google Home that the Chromecast is online and connected to the same network.

If the cast icon is still missing or Netflix says “No devices found,” Netflix also recommends resetting the app and restarting the home network. Its troubleshooting steps cover those options.
Can I AirPlay Netflix from my iPhone?
No. Netflix states, “Using AirPlay with iPhone and iPad is not supported with Netflix.” Screen mirroring is also unsupported, and using AirPlay or mirroring can prevent playback. Stop mirroring and use a supported alternative.

For a wired connection
Netflix identifies Apple’s Lightning Digital AV Adapter for Lightning iPhones; its supported model numbers are A1438 and A1621. For USB-C iPhones, Netflix recommends Apple’s USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter, while other adapters may work if they support video playback. Check your exact iPhone model and adapter before buying: not every iPhone supports wired video output. A cable does not enable AirPlay or make an unsupported TV cast-compatible. Check your Netflix plan before choosing a method
Netflix’s casting help says casting or mirroring is available on Standard or Premium plans. Its connected-display guidance says watching Netflix on a TV from a mobile device is unavailable with an ad-supported experience or a Mobile plan. Because these restrictions apply to different mobile-to-TV routes, check your account’s current plan and Netflix’s connected-display guidance before troubleshooting further or buying an adapter.
