The Open and Power buttons are functional mechanical features. They move as part of the model, but the official product descriptions do not describe electronic operation or game-playing capability. LEGO presents the set as a display model; the original PS1, by contrast, is electronic hardware designed to run games.

No. The set is an adult-oriented building and display project; original PS1 hardware is the option for playing games. The LEGO model’s moving buttons and plug-in brick controller are physical design details, not evidence that it functions as a console. Its appeal is the near-console-scale silhouette, build experience and concealed dioramas—not compatibility with PlayStation games.

When did the set go on sale, and what was its announced price?
LEGO announced recommended retail prices of US $179.99, UK £139.99 and €159.99. Its announcement set LEGO Insiders early access for October 1, 2026, followed by general availability on October 4, 2026, through LEGO.com, LEGO Stores and select retailers. Sony also listed ¥27,980 including tax and direct PlayStation availability from October 1 in the US, UK, France, Germany, Austria, Belgium, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Italy, Spain and Portugal.
