How big is the LEGO PlayStation set?
LEGO gives the completed console dimensions as over 6 cm high × 26 cm wide × 19 cm deep (over 2.5 in × 10.5 in × 7.5 in). These measurements are for the model, not its box. Allow at least a 26 × 19 cm shelf footprint for the console itself; you will need additional room if you want to show the dioramas beside it.
Does the LEGO PS1 set open, and what features does it have?
Yes. The console opens to reveal two small buildable scenes. The model also includes functional Open and Power buttons and a brick-built controller that plugs into the console. These are physical model features, not electronics: the set is a display replica, not a working PlayStation.

Hidden Gran Turismo and Ape Escape scenes
One scene is inspired by Gran Turismo (1997) and includes a miniature track and tiny cars. The other takes inspiration from Ape Escape (1999) and features the game’s red or blue monkey helmet. LEGO says the scenes can be kept inside the console or removed for separate display.
How LEGO recreated the console
In its design story, LEGO says its team worked with PlayStation and consulted original schematics to reproduce the console’s details. LEGO also says the collaboration led to new elements for the controller buttons and the console’s Open and Power buttons. Design Director Frédéric André called the opening lid the team’s biggest challenge; after testing several mechanisms, designers used a Technic suspension element to make it work.

Can you display the dioramas separately?
Yes. LEGO says both scenes can be removed from the console and displayed alongside it, or stored inside when you want to show the console on its own. If you plan to display all three parts at once, the console’s 26 × 19 cm footprint is not the full space requirement; leave extra shelf area for the two scenes. LEGO does not give separate dimensions for the dioramas.

The set represents the original PlayStation console and first controller, with the two removable game-inspired scenes concealed inside. The official LEGO Shop US product page says its LEGO Builder app offers 3D instructions that can be zoomed and rotated, along with build-progress tracking and the ability to save progress.

When did the LEGO PlayStation set go on sale, and what is the price?
LEGO announced Insiders early access beginning October 1, 2026, followed by general purchase from October 4, 2026, through LEGO.com, LEGO Stores and select retailers. The announced regional recommended retail prices were £139.99, €159.99 and $179.99. On October 4, 2026, the US product page listed $179.99 and showed “Coming soon on October 4, 2026”; that page status is time-sensitive, so check the listing for current availability.
