Web development can feel less daunting when you treat it as a sequence of small skills rather than one enormous subject. Edmunds Puce’s beginner-oriented course follows that idea: start with HTML, then add styling, interaction, data, server-side work, testing, and deployment.
What the course teaches
Puce frames development as skills that build on one another. As he puts it, “Development is a stack of small, ordinary skills, each one learnable on its own, stacked in the right order.” His course applies that principle to web development through a progression from a basic page to an application available online.

- Start with HTML: create page content using a tag.
- Add styling: shape the page’s layout and appearance.
- Introduce interaction: make the page respond to a click.
- Work with data: store information for an application to use.
- Serve it: move beyond the page to work involving a server.
- Test it: check that the application behaves as expected.
- Deploy it: put the finished work online.
This is the sequence described for Puce’s course, not a universal curriculum or the only sensible way to learn web development.

The course description emphasizes practice at the keyboard rather than lecture alone. Learners build layouts and applications, encounter errors, and work through diagnosing and correcting them. That gives the course a project-centered shape: concepts are connected to things the learner makes.
