Riot Games will end the current run of League Classic on January 6, 2027. Classic remains available through the end of 2026’s Season 3, but patch 26.21 introduces scheduled queues in several regions and limits JP1 and ME1 to custom matches. Riot says it intends to bring Classic back later, likely as an event mode with adjustments and additions.
When does League Classic end?
Riot’s developer announcement on October 14, 2026 says League Classic will continue through Season 3 Act II and then leave its current rotation in January 2027. Riot Support specifies the final availability date as January 6, 2027. This is the end of the current run, not a permanent cancellation: Riot says the mode may return in a future event format with changes and additional content.

Riot did not publish a player-count percentage. Its explanation is that most players have returned to other parts of League, creating longer queues and wider matchmaking-rating (MMR) differences for the remaining Classic population.

Windowed queues in nine regions
Beginning with patch 26.21, Riot will restrict matchmade Classic queues to scheduled server-time windows in regions where it reports substantial migration to modern modes. The windows are:
#1 Best Overall
- UNLOCK A UNIVERSE OF EXPERIENCES and compete with a global community of millions across multiple battlefields with Riot Games
- Unlocks in-game currency that can be used to purchase in-game items
- Redeemable in League of Legends, Valorant, Wild Rift, Teamfight Tactics, Legends of Runeterra, and 2XKO
- PC, mobile, console… it all works. Just enter your code at shop.riotgames.com/redeem and choose the game you want to use this virtual currency for
- This code is only redeemable on Riot Accounts in North America and Canada

| Latin America North | Monday–Friday, 4 p.m.–midnight; Saturday–Sunday, 10 a.m.–1 a.m. server time |
| Latin America South | Monday–Friday, 4 p.m.–midnight; Saturday–Sunday, 10 a.m.–1 a.m. server time |

| Oceania | Monday–Friday, 4 p.m.–midnight; Saturday–Sunday, 10 a.m.–1 a.m. server time |
| Russia | Monday–Friday, 4 p.m.–midnight; Saturday–Sunday, 10 a.m.–1 a.m. server time |
| JP1 | Custom matches only |
| ME1 | Custom matches only |
The listed hours use each server’s local time, so players should check the clock for their own region rather than convert from another server. The restrictions apply to matchmade queues; Classic custom games remain available at all times in every region.
How to choose the right way to play
- If your region is on the scheduled list, play matchmade Classic during the published window.
- If you are on JP1 or ME1, use a custom lobby rather than waiting for a public queue.
- If you need to play outside a window, create or join a custom game. This option remains open until the January 6 end date.
Battle Pass and Classic store changes
One free track for Act II
The Act II Classic Battle Pass will use one unified free track instead of separate free-track arrangements. Riot also says it is refunding Classic-specific content that will no longer be usable when the mode’s current run ends. The announcement does not provide a universal refund amount or a single payout date, so affected players should review Riot’s account or purchase notices.

A smaller store from patch 26.21
From patch 26.21, the Classic store will contain only Champions, Runes and Rune Pages. Other Classic-specific store content is not listed as continuing after that patch. Players considering a purchase should account for the January 6 availability deadline and Riot’s refund policy for content that becomes unusable.

“Planned” describes Riot’s announced schedule, not a guarantee that every listed release will arrive unchanged. Patch timing and availability can still be adjusted by the developer.
How Classic progression works
Classic uses a separate progression track from the standard League and Teamfight Tactics account level. Every player starts at Classic Account Level 0 and can progress to level 30.
Rank #4
Classic matches and missions grant Classic XP. Progress unlocks rewards that can include Masteries, Runes, Influence Points, Blue Essence, icons, portraits, emotes, rune pages and other Classic items. Riot Support lists the RUSTIER Blitzcrank Classic skin as the level-30 reward.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsThis separate level matters when planning the remaining time: progress made on the Classic track is distinct from a player’s normal account level, and the current run has a fixed end date.

Will League Classic return?
Riot’s stated goal is to bring Classic back after this run, likely as an event mode rather than as a continuously available mode. The company specifically says a future version could include adjustments and additions. That language confirms an intention, not a scheduled relaunch: Riot has not announced a return date, final feature list or guarantee that the next version will match the current rules.
Quick Recap
What players should do now
- Note January 6, 2027 as the end of the current Classic run.
- Check your server region and plan matchmade sessions around its 26.21 queue window.
- Use custom games whenever your queue is closed or if you play on JP1 or ME1.
- Review the Act II free Battle Pass track and spend carefully in the reduced store, which will offer only Champions, Runes and Rune Pages from 26.21.
- Complete missions and matches if you want Classic progression rewards, including the level-30 reward.
- Watch Riot’s official announcements for refund details and any future event-mode return.
