Before buying, check three things: whether the model is sold in your country, whether your local supply matches its 220–240 V rating, and whether you plan to use full-fat dairy, since that is the milk an independent reviewer found worked best.
What the machine is designed to do
Lavazza positions the Deséa as an A Modo Mio machine that prepares five milk-based recipes and four coffee sizes, selected through a touch interface. The manufacturer’s feature list includes foam adjustment, a temperature boost, and a cold whipped-cream preparation. These are Lavazza’s descriptions of the product, not results from an independent test.

The 220–240 V rating matters for buying decisions. A unit labelled for that range is built for a 220–240 V supply, so a buyer on a 100–127 V supply should confirm that a regional variant exists before ordering. Check the rating plate on the base of the machine when it arrives.
Capsules: A Modo Mio only
The Deséa takes Lavazza A Modo Mio capsules or capsules explicitly compatible with the A Modo Mio system. Lavazza’s FAQ at lavazza.com (FAQ) gives the same instruction. Do not assume that capsules from other systems will fit or work because they look similar; the machine should not be treated as Nespresso-compatible.
Lavazza’s user manual warns that using non-compatible capsules can cancel warranty coverage. That makes the capsule choice a warranty question as well as a taste question. If you buy third-party capsules, confirm on the packaging that they are labelled for A Modo Mio before you use them.
Capsule cost is the main running expense after the machine itself, so compare the per-drink price of A Modo Mio capsules across the sellers you would actually use rather than relying on a single figure.

Noise and milk performance
Noise and milk are the two areas where the claims and the independent evidence need to be read separately.

The 43 dB and 50 dB figures cannot be compared directly, because the review does not show equivalent test conditions. The reviewer’s account is that the machine is quiet in use, and the 50 dB maximum is their own measurement. Read both figures as separate claims rather than as a settled benchmark.
The reviewer’s conclusion on the drinks was that the machine makes good espresso and a decent cappuccino when suitable milk is used. Full-fat dairy gave better results than oat milk in that testing. If you prefer plant milks, test one before committing to the machine, because the foam result depends on the milk.

Lavazza’s global product page at lavazza.com (Deséa product page) states the product is unavailable. Treat that as the signal for markets without a local listing.
United Kingdom
Lavazza UK’s product page at lavazza.co.uk (Deséa product page) displayed prices of £249 and £175 for the machine, while also showing unavailability messaging. Listing prices change, and the two figures are not explained on the page. Check the page at the point of purchase before relying on either price.
United States
The sources reviewed for this article do not establish current US availability for this exact model. If you are in the US, confirm the model, voltage, and plug type with a seller before buying, since the listed rating is 220–240 V.
Care and descaling
Lavazza says scale buildup can reduce water flow or cause coffee to come out cold. The FAQ advises descaling about every three months, when the descale alert appears, or more often in hard-water areas. Use a descaler labelled non-toxic or non-harmful for coffee machines, and follow Lavazza’s current instructions. Lavazza says never to use vinegar.

Who should consider it, and who should not
- Consider it if you want milk drinks at the push of a button, you are comfortable buying A Modo Mio capsules, and your supply and warranty requirements are met.
- Consider it if counter space is tight. Its footprint is 145 mm wide by 380 mm deep by 280 mm high.
- Look elsewhere if you need a machine that works with capsules from other systems or with a different voltage.
- Look elsewhere if you use mainly plant milks and want rich foam from them.
- Look elsewhere if you cannot confirm local availability and a descaler and service route in your country.
