What the Canon PIXMA G3690 offers
Canon New Zealand positions the PIXMA G3690 MegaTank as a home 3-in-1 printer. It prints, copies and scans, and includes automatic duplex printing, a 2.7-inch color touch LCD, Wi-Fi and USB-B. Its advertised feature mix suits a household looking for one device to handle everyday documents, occasional color work and scans or copies. The product information does not establish how well it prints photographs or graphics, how fast it feels in ordinary use, or how reliably it performs over time.

The speed figures are Canon’s specifications, not independently measured results, so they should not be read as a promise of the time a particular job will take. Canon lists support for A4, A5, A6 and B5 paper; several larger regional sizes; 4 × 6-inch and 5 × 7-inch photo paper; square and card formats; envelopes; and custom lengths up to 1200 mm. Check the regional specification page for the exact supported-size list before buying paper for a less common format.

How much ink does the G3690 use, and which bottles fit?
Canon advertises yields of up to 6,000 black pages and 7,700 color pages. These are separate manufacturer estimates, not a combined total or a guarantee for every owner. Canon says the estimates use its individual method based on the ISO/IEC 24712 color chart and continuous-printing simulation with replacement bottles after initial setup. Initial bottles yield less because some ink is used to fill the print head, and Canon warns that yield varies significantly with printed content and other factors. See the Canon yield explanation.
The compatible bottles listed for the New Zealand G3690 are GI-61BK (black), GI-61C (cyan), GI-61M (magenta) and GI-61Y (yellow). Confirm the exact printer model, bottle SKU and local price in your country before ordering. Without verified local bottle prices and a consistent real-world usage basis, a dependable cost-per-page figure cannot be stated.

Setup, maintenance and ownership considerations
Canon’s online manual for the G3090 series explicitly includes the G3690 among its covered models. It documents Wi-Fi and printer connection, refilling the tanks, supported media, printing and scanning, cleaning, maintenance functions and replacing the maintenance cartridge. That establishes that guidance is available; it does not show how often maintenance will be needed, how long a maintenance cartridge will last or how difficult any procedure is. Read Canon’s G3090-series online manual.
Two practical details can affect setup and continued use. Canon says the USB cable is not included, and all ink tanks must contain ink for all functions, including copying, printing and scanning. Canon also notes that some functions may require an internet connection; check the manual for the function and connection requirements relevant to your setup.

The G3690 is worth considering if you want a home all-in-one with a refillable ink system, automatic duplex printing, wireless and mobile-printing options, and Canon’s high advertised page-yield estimates. Its 100-sheet plain-paper capacity is a modest published specification, and the ink-yield estimates should not be treated as a promised household result.
