There is no evidence-backed universal top five here: the available product information supports four distinct large-screen monitor options, not a fair five-model ranking. The best fit depends on whether you want a wide gaming view, a more detailed work canvas, or a conventional screen—and whether your computer can drive the resolution and refresh rate. This guide separates manufacturer specifications from source-attributed recommendations and avoids treating announced products as confirmed in-stock buys.
How to choose a large-screen monitor
Start with the work you do and the space you have, not the diagonal measurement alone. A 16:9 display gives you a conventional rectangular canvas; an ultrawide devotes more of the same screen to side-by-side windows or a wider game view. Dell’s monitor guide discusses matching screen size to use, including smaller screens for competitive play and 32- or 34-inch options for immersion. RTINGS likewise distinguishes gaming ultrawides from a 40-inch productivity model. Dell’s monitor guidance and RTINGS’ office monitor guide offer broader context.

- Check desk fit and viewing distance: a wider or taller panel needs room, and a larger diagonal is not automatically more comfortable.
- Match resolution to your computer: higher resolutions demand more graphics capability, especially in games. Dell advises considering resolution and target refresh rate together with GPU output.
- Choose refresh rate for the workload: fast gaming benefits from higher refresh, but the computer must be able to deliver the chosen resolution and frame rate.
- For work, inspect the connections: USB-C power delivery, KVM, USB hub functions, picture-by-picture and daisy chaining can change how useful a display is with a laptop or multiple computers.

| Use case | Model | Published specifications | What to know |
|---|---|---|---|
| High-detail gaming ultrawide | Alienware AW3926QW | 38.9-inch; 5120 × 2160 at 165Hz, with a 2560 × 1080 at 330Hz mode | Dell’s US catalog lists these specifications. The lower-resolution high-refresh mode is a different operating mode, not the same image detail at a higher refresh rate. |
| 34-inch gaming ultrawide | Alienware AW3426DW | 3440 × 1440; 280Hz | RTINGS describes it as a less expensive alternative to its high-end gaming recommendation, the ASUS ROG Swift OLED PG34WCDN, and notes the Alienware’s lower refresh rate. That is RTINGS’ recommendation, not an independent ranking here. |
| Detailed, laptop-connected workspace | LG 40WT95UF | 40-inch 5K2K (5120 × 2160); Nano IPS Black; 99% DCI-P3; Thunderbolt 5; up to 96W power delivery; KVM and daisy chain | LG announced these features on May 4, 2026. The announcement does not establish current retail availability. |
| Wide work monitor with KVM | LG 38BR85QC | 37.5-inch curved; 3840 × 1600; 98% DCI-P3; DisplayHDR 600; USB-C up to 90W; built-in KVM | These are LG-stated specifications. Confirm the exact model and regional listing before purchase. |

32-inch 4K or 34-inch ultrawide?
That choice is about screen shape and pixel layout, not just size. A 34-inch 3440 × 1440 ultrawide gives more horizontal room; a 32-inch 16:9 display keeps the familiar shape and may suit software or video that expects it. The evidence here does not establish a specific 32-inch 4K model for a fifth pick, so it would be misleading to name one as a researched recommendation. Compare the actual resolution, computer support, desk fit, and connectivity of the models available to you.
Which work features are worth paying attention to?
USB-C power delivery
USB-C charging can let a compatible laptop use one cable for display and power. The cited LG models list different maximum power delivery: up to 96W for the 40WT95UF and up to 90W for the 38BR85QC. Whether either is enough depends on the laptop’s requirements, and the announced specifications do not confirm current availability.
Rank #2
- 1ms MPRT: Colors fade and illuminate instantly with a 1ms response time, eliminating ghosting and piecing together precise imagery during action-packed scenes and gaming.
- Luminous Backcover Lights: A colorful LED light illuminates the back cover of the monitor, delivering a uniquely modern design.
- WQHD Resolution: At 5 million pixels, Wide Quad HD Resolution (3440 x 1440) display resolution provides you with the next level of refined, and detailed picture over the current 1080P standard.
- 21:9 Ultrawide: See more and do more with an ultrawide monitor. 21:9 provides you with 30% more screen space versus the conventional monitor. With an ultrawide resolution of 3440 x 1440, expand your performance and productivity.
KVM and daisy chaining
A built-in KVM can share a keyboard and mouse between connected computers, while daisy chaining can extend a compatible display setup from one monitor to another. Confirm which inputs, computers, and operating modes the exact monitor supports; feature names alone do not guarantee a particular setup will work.
Color and HDR specifications
LG lists color-gamut coverage and DisplayHDR ratings for the work models above. Those specifications can help narrow a shortlist, but they do not by themselves establish real-world color accuracy, uniformity, or suitability for a color-critical workflow.

Availability and the fifth pick
The available evidence supports four options across gaming and productivity, but not a sufficiently documented five-item ranking. LG also announced the 34BQ65VA, a curved 3440 × 1440, 100Hz monitor with USB-C up to 65W and picture-by-picture; the announcement alone does not establish that it is currently purchasable. It is therefore not presented as a confirmed buying recommendation.
