Merchants can use the service to collect and hold supported stablecoins, convert them to supported local fiat, and settle to local bank accounts through Kora’s payout rails. The initial rollout includes manual settlement workflows, so it does not establish that every step is automated.
What Kora’s One Rail announcement means
Kora describes One Rail as an extension of its payment infrastructure, intended to let merchants work with stablecoins through Kora APIs and existing developer tools rather than building a separate payment stack. The company says the infrastructure spans local bank rails, mobile money, card networks, and stablecoin rails. Those descriptions are claims from Kora’s launch announcement, not an independent assessment of coverage or performance.

The announced capabilities include generating dedicated wallets, tracking payments in real time, reconciling transactions, holding digital-dollar balances, converting funds into supported local fiat, and paying out to local bank accounts. The initial focus is collection, payouts, and treasury; Kora specifically describes manual settlement workflows at launch. The announcement does not state settlement times, fees, exchange rates, or which markets can use each feature.
Which stablecoins and networks are supported?
Kora named Tether (USDT) and USD Coin (USDC) as the initial supported stablecoins. Its stablecoin developer guide lists three networks for each asset:
#1 Best Overall
- EAL5+ CERTIFIED SECURE ELEMENT + FINGERPRINT PROTECTION — Your private keys stay encrypted offline on a certified EAL5+ chip, the same security tier used in EMV bank cards. Built by DCENT, securing crypto since 2018. Fingerprint authentication adds a second layer no PIN-only wallet can match.
- 10,000+ ASSETS NATIVE ON 100+ BLOCKCHAINS — Hold Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP, Solana, Cardano, popular stablecoins (USDT, USDC), and NFTs in one wallet. No third-party apps, no fragmented setup — every supported asset works straight out of the box.
- TAP-TO-SIGN MOBILE EXPERIENCE — Pair your wallet with the DCENT mobile app over Bluetooth. Manage tokens, review transactions, and access in-app swap features directly from your phone — no cables, no desktop required.
- WEB3 & dAPP ACCESS VIA METAMASK — Connect to MetaMask and other browser extension wallets to manage NFTs, claim airdrops, and access dApps. A large screen and intuitive 4-button interface keep every transaction clearly visible before you sign.
- SEAMLESS FIRMWARE UPDATES & 30-DAY MONEY-BACK GUARANTEE — Apply security updates without resetting your wallet or migrating funds. Backed by Amazon's 30-day money-back guarantee — your purchase is risk-free.
| Stablecoin | Networks listed in Kora’s developer guide |
|---|---|
| USDT | SOL, ETH, TRX |
| USDC | SOL, ETH, TRX |
Kora says it may add other major USD-backed stablecoins later, depending on demand and regulatory and operational readiness. Supported assets and networks can change; check Kora’s stablecoin developer guide for current technical details.
How a merchant receives and verifies a stablecoin payment
Kora’s documented flow relies on a customer sending funds from a wallet or exchange outside Kora’s system. The merchant then uses Kora’s APIs and notifications to follow the payment.

- Complete account requirements. Kora says merchants need an account with approved compliance details and documents, then must retrieve API keys from the dashboard.
- Create a customer wallet. Generate a wallet for the specific currency and network combination required for the payment.
- Configure webhooks. Set up webhook notifications so the merchant’s system can learn when an on-chain deposit completes.
- Verify the transaction. Use Kora’s Charge Query API to check the payment status.
The currency and network must match the wallet configuration. Kora warns that deposits sent on unsupported or mismatched networks may not be recoverable, so merchants should show customers the correct deposit instructions and verify them before sending funds.
Conversion, payout, and market availability
Kora says One Rail can convert stablecoin balances into supported local fiat and settle them to local bank accounts through its payout rails. Its wider pay-in and payout documentation lists USDT and USDC as supported options, but that does not mean every asset, payment method, or payout corridor is available in every country. Kora’s pay-in documentation and payout documentation should be checked for the relevant market; do not infer country coverage from the general launch announcement.

The announced initial rollout includes manual settlement workflows. Kora has not stated in the launch announcement which steps can be automated in each market, when settlements arrive, or what fees and FX terms apply. Those details matter to merchants comparing a stablecoin receipt with a conventional bank or mobile-money payment.

In the September 29, 2026 announcement, Kora CEO and founder Dickson Nsofor said cross-border commerce in Africa is hindered by remittance costs averaging “8–8.8%,” compared with a “6.49% global average,” and that “stablecoin ownership in Africa is now at 78%.” The announcement does not identify an underlying study, measurement period, definition of stablecoin ownership, country coverage, or calculation method for these figures. They should be understood as claims attributed to Nsofor, not independently verified statistics.

What merchants still need to establish
The announcement explains the product concept and a technical deposit flow, but it does not provide enough information to judge whether One Rail is cheaper, faster, or more reliable than another payment provider. Before adopting it, a merchant needs market- and use-case-specific answers on:

- Available settlement currencies, destinations, timing, and how manual settlement works.
- Fees, foreign-exchange rates, and any other conversion or payout costs.
- Custody and compliance responsibilities for the merchant and customer.
- Support and recovery options when a customer sends funds to the wrong network or wallet.
Kora’s CEO described One Rail as a way to bring stablecoin payments into merchants’ existing payment stack. That is the company’s product positioning; the launch announcement does not provide comparative pricing or independent performance evidence to substantiate a broader ranking against other providers.
