You can make Kodi feel more like Netflix by installing a different skin and arranging its home screen around large artwork, horizontal shelves, and a short menu. You cannot make Kodi literally identical to Netflix: a skin changes Kodi’s appearance, not its catalog, recommendations, branding, or access to Netflix.
What a Netflix-inspired Kodi screen can—and cannot—do
Kodi skins change the interface. A suitable skin may offer artwork-focused layouts, rows of media, and menu options that help you build a streamlined, remote-friendly home screen. The available controls depend on the skin.

Changing a skin does not provide Netflix or alter the rights or sources for the media displayed in Kodi. Kodi describes skins as appearance customization and add-ons as extensions; neither fact means a skin grants access to a subscription service. Use lawful media sources. Kodi says, “The Kodi project does not provide any support for bootleg content or other illegally sourced material, nor do we allow community support within our official web sites and services for such content.” Kodi’s About page sets out that policy.

Install a different Kodi skin
- Open the skin settings: From Kodi’s home screen, select Settings (the gear) → Interface → Skin. Kodi’s how-to places Skin under the Look and feel section; labels can vary by Kodi release and device. See Kodi’s skin installation guide.
- Browse available skins: Choose Get more… to view skins available through Kodi’s interface.
- Install and switch: Select a skin and follow Kodi’s prompts. Kodi installs the skin and its dependencies, then asks whether to switch to it.
- Open the selected skin’s settings: Look for home-screen, menu, widget, or layout controls. These options are specific to each skin, rather than universal Kodi settings.
Arrange the home screen for a Netflix-like feel
In the skin’s settings, look for controls that let you emphasize artwork, organize media into horizontal shelves, and simplify the home menu. If the skin allows it, put the categories you use most within easy reach and choose a layout that remains legible from across the room. These are selection goals, not features guaranteed in every skin.

Kodi’s skinning documentation explains that skins control the interface and can have their own layouts and customization. For the built-in reference point, Estuary is Kodi’s default skin; Kodi’s release announcement described it as designed for a “10-foot interface.” Read about Estuary, the Kodi 17.0 announcement, and the skinning manual.
Choose a skin that works on your device
There is no source-verified basis here for naming one community skin as the current best Netflix-style option. Before installing one, check its own listing or documentation against your needs:
- Kodi compatibility and maintenance: Confirm that the skin supports your installed Kodi version and is maintained. Kodi notes that new releases may add features that require add-on authors to update compatibility; a skin may therefore need an update after a Kodi release. See Kodi’s add-on documentation.
- Home-screen controls: Check whether it offers the artwork, shelves, menu, and layout adjustments you want.
- Remote usability: Favor clear labels, readable artwork, and navigation that works comfortably with your controller.
- Device performance: Consider how the skin runs on your specific device; a visually rich layout may not be the right fit for every host.
Estuary is the simplest baseline because it is built in. A separately installed skin may offer a different layout, but its settings, dependencies, availability, and maintenance belong to that skin project.
Navigate Kodi with a remote
A remote is optional. Many Kodi devices include one, and on compatible HDMI-CEC setups a television or receiver remote may already control Kodi. Kodi also documents MCE and RF remotes, as well as keyboards and smartphone or tablet remotes. MCE remotes are commonly available, and Kodi says most buttons generally work without setup, but compatibility depends on the host device, operating system, receiver, and remote implementation.
