Some Anko products have performed impressively in independent tests for their price; others have drawbacks, and specific tested child-safety products failed. The useful rule is to judge the exact model, not the brand: CHOICE’s findings apply to the products it tested, and newer versions may differ.
Which Anko products look like good buys?
The table summarizes CHOICE’s product findings in its guide updated 23 September 2026. Prices are the amounts stated in that guide at its publication or update time, not confirmed current prices. A strong result for one model is not evidence that another model in the same category performs similarly.

Which products are more conditional?
Air fryer: check capacity and food results
CHOICE’s latest tested Kmart air fryer was priced at $50 in its 23 September 2026 guide. Its cooking performance varied by food type. CHOICE kitchen expert Chantelle Dart noted that the model had a small footprint and performed well for its price, but its 4L basket might not suit families. Consider both the portions you cook and the foods you expect it to handle.
Coffee machine: decent espresso score, weak milk performance
The tested $99 retro model scored 75% for espresso taste in CHOICE’s blind taste test. That result does not make it a strong all-round machine: CHOICE also found poor milk frothing and poor build quality, and noted that it lacked a built-in grinder.

Kettles: results vary between models
CHOICE reported that only one Anko kettle it had tested was recommended and that none of the others exceeded 74%. The organisation also noted that new kettle models arrive frequently, so its testing did not cover the entire range. Check the exact model rather than treating the results as a blanket verdict on Anko kettles.
What do CHOICE’s child-product tests say?
For products used by babies and young children, a low price or a good result for a different model is no substitute for checking the precise product and current safety information.

How should you check for recalls?
Test results are not a substitute for checking whether a product has been recalled. The following regulator notices identify specific products and actions; they do not mean every product sold under the Anko name is affected.

On 9 January 2026, the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) published a notice for the Anko Small Gel Pak, code 42010777, sold from 18 March 2014 to 10 December 2025, and the Anko Large Gel Pak, code 42010784, sold from 11 February 2014 to 10 December 2025. The packs contain ethylene glycol. If damaged, they may leak, and swallowing the contents can cause irreversible injury or death. The TGA advises owners to stop using the affected packs, keep them away from children and return them to Kmart for a full refund.

Pop and Surprise Playset
Product Safety Australia published a recall on 20 November 2025 for batch 20/25 of the Pop and Surprise Playset, Kmart code 42821427. Small screws can separate and create a choking hazard; incidents had occurred. The listed sale period ended on 7 November 2025. If you have the identified product, stop using it and return it for a full refund.
Before buying or continuing to use an older product, check Kmart’s current recall page and Product Safety Australia. Recall information can change; make sure any notice matches the product and, where specified, its batch or code.

What are the return options if an Anko item disappoints?
Kmart’s consumer-guarantee policy, effective October 2025, distinguishes faulty or unacceptable-quality goods from change-of-mind returns. Depending on the circumstances, consumer-guarantee remedies can include repair, replacement or refund. For qualifying Kmart- or Anko-branded products returned without proof of purchase, the policy says Kmart will provide an exchange voucher. The appropriate remedy depends on the case.

Kmart’s FAQ, accessed 8 October 2026, says eligible change-of-mind returns are generally allowed within 60 days for Kmart or Target purchases and within 30 days for marketplace-seller purchases. How to decide before you buy
- Match the exact model. Check the model name, size, capacity and design against the product in the test or recall notice. Similar names do not establish that two versions are the same.
- Use test results for the question they answer. A cookware or luggage performance result does not establish a safety result; a safety pass does not mean an item is easy to clean or convenient to use.
- Weigh the limitation against your use. Capacity, noise, ease of use, cleaning and food-specific cooking results may matter more than a headline score or low price.
- Check current stock and recall information. The guide’s prices are historical to its update, and its findings do not necessarily cover newer models. Confirm what is being sold and whether current notices apply.
- Keep purchase details. Proof of purchase and original packaging may matter for change-of-mind eligibility; consumer guarantees remain a distinct route when goods have a fault or fail acceptable-quality standards.
