The Kmart Anko VCB45-16A is a discontinued, bagged barrel vacuum with useful published specifications, but the available public information does not establish how well it cleans or which replacement bags fit. If you are considering a second-hand unit, the key ownership question is whether you can confirm a suitable bag before relying on it.
What the VCB45-16A is
CHOICE classifies the Kmart Anko VCB45-16A as a barrel vacuum with a bag dust collector and marks the model discontinued. CHOICE displays a $49 price, but that is a listing price on its page—not evidence of a current Kmart offer or the price of a used unit. CHOICE product listing

Published specifications and included accessories
| Specification | Published information |
|---|---|
| Power | 2000 W stated power; 1610 W measured power, as listed by CHOICE |
| Dust capacity | 3.4 L measured dust collector volume, as listed by CHOICE |

| Weight | 6.2 kg, as listed by CHOICE |

The stated 2000 W and measured 1610 W are separate power figures; neither is a cleaning score. CHOICE lists a telescopic wand, hose, carpet/hard floor tool, crevice tool, upholstery tool, dusting brush and eight dust bags among the supplied items. Its listing does not establish what accessories will still be present with a second-hand vacuum. CHOICE product listing

What the available reviews can—and cannot—tell you
CHOICE’s accessible page does not reveal the model’s Expert Rating or cleaning results. Its fields cover cleaning performance, carpet cleaning, ease of use, pet hair removal, edges and noise, but the results are marked member-only in the accessible content. There is therefore no public score here to use as evidence that the vacuum performs well or poorly. CHOICE product listing
ProductReview reports a 3.3/5 summary across 42 reviews on the page retrieved in 2026. That is a platform summary that can change over time, not a controlled test; individual comments should be treated as owner anecdotes. ProductReview listing

Replacement bags are the main ownership uncertainty
The manual confirms that the vacuum uses a dust bag, and CHOICE lists eight bags as supplied. Neither source identifies a replacement-bag type, part number, current seller or price. ProductReview’s Q&A includes owners asking where to buy bags, but those questions do not confirm that any particular third-party bag fits the VCB45-16A. Kmart manual ProductReview listing and Q&A

A generic listing or a bag that looks similar is not proof of compatibility. If you are inspecting a used vacuum, ask whether it comes with usable bags and check that replacement stock can be sourced before purchase.

What to check if suction is poor
The Kmart manual names three checks for poor suction. Follow them before assuming the motor has failed:
- Check whether the dust bag is full and replace it if needed.
- Inspect the tube and hose for a blockage, then remove any obstruction.
- Check the filters and clean dirty filters as directed in the manual.
Verdict: a cautious second-hand buy
The public specifications establish a 6.2 kg bagged barrel vacuum with 3.4 L measured dust capacity, 7.4 m reach and a listed set of cleaning tools. They do not establish its cleaning performance, while replacement-bag compatibility and current availability remain unverified. For a used VCB45-16A, confirm bag supply and condition first; do not treat CHOICE’s displayed $49 listing price as a current sale price.
