KCNA and KCSA are separate CNCF certifications, not a documented discounted bundle. KCNA covers Kubernetes and cloud-native foundations; KCSA focuses on cloud-native security, especially Kubernetes security. Each exam is listed at $250 in the US and includes one free retake, so registering for both totals $500 at those listed prices.
What do KCNA and KCSA cover?
KCNA: Kubernetes and cloud-native foundations
The Kubernetes and Cloud Native Associate (KCNA) is a pre-professional credential covering basic Kubernetes use, core concepts such as pods, nodes and clusters, and the wider cloud-native ecosystem. CNCF describes it as demonstrating foundational knowledge and skills in Kubernetes and cloud native. Its published exam-domain weights are:

- Cloud Native Application Delivery — 16%
- Cloud Native Architecture — 12%
KCSA: cloud-native security foundations
The Kubernetes and Cloud Native Security Associate (KCSA) focuses on security practices and controls for cloud-native environments, with particular attention to Kubernetes. Its published domains include cluster components, threat modeling, platform security, and compliance:

The official pages present KCNA as foundational and KCSA as a path toward cloud-native security specialization. The pages do not state that KCNA is a prerequisite for KCSA, so candidates can choose the order that fits their existing knowledge and goals. The pair can be complementary if you want both broad ecosystem literacy and a security foundation.

Is there a discounted certification bundle?
CNCF’s current pages document two separate exam registrations; they do not establish a combined package or bundle discount. At the listed US prices, the arithmetic total is $500 before any regional pricing, discounts, or taxes. Check the registration terms before purchase because prices and terms can change. See the KCNA certification page and KCSA certification page for current details.
Which certification should you take first?
- Choose KCNA first if you want a broad introduction to Kubernetes concepts, orchestration, application delivery, and cloud-native architecture.
- Choose KCSA first if you already have enough Kubernetes context to focus on security controls, component security, threat models, and frameworks.
- Pursue both if you want a foundation spanning the ecosystem and its security concerns; the issuer’s pages do not make one exam a prerequisite for the other.
How should you prepare for both exams?
Start with the open curricula linked from the official pages and use the published weights to allocate study time. For KCNA, prioritize Kubernetes Fundamentals, then Container Orchestration, Cloud Native Application Delivery, and Cloud Native Architecture. For KCSA, give the most attention to cluster component security and security fundamentals, followed by threat modeling, platform security, and compliance frameworks.
