Is the Kambrook KMO400 microwave recalled?
Some units are. The Australian Product Safety recall applies to Kambrook Essentials Microwave Oven 30L, model KMO400, with production date codes 833 to 1321 inclusive. The notice says these units were sold nationally through Kmart from 1 September 2008 to 1 September 2013. A component may fail, creating a fire risk that could cause injury or property damage. The model name alone does not establish that a particular microwave is affected.

If your unit’s code falls within the recalled range, the official instruction is: “If yes, immediately stop using the appliance and unplug it from the socket outlet.” The notice says to return an affected microwave to Kmart for a replacement or refund if replacements are unavailable. Check the official Australian Product Safety recall notice for current instructions and contact details. If you cannot confidently identify the code, contact Kambrook rather than continuing to use the appliance.

- Find the microwave’s rating label and look for a production date code. The recall notice says the code may also appear within the serial number.
- Compare the code with the recalled range: 833 through 1321 inclusive.
- If the label is unclear or the code is embedded in the serial number and you cannot identify it, contact Kambrook using the details in the official recall notice.
- If the code is within the range, stop using the microwave, unplug it and follow the return directions in that notice.
What are the Kambrook KMO400 dimensions and specifications?
The Kambrook Issue E14 instruction booklet describes the KMO400 as the Kambrook Essentials 30L Microwave Oven. These are the manual-listed specifications; the booklet cautions that specifications may change without notice.

The figures above come from the Kambrook KMO400 instruction booklet. CHOICE’s public listing gives rounded external dimensions of 34 × 52 × 43 cm and a 32 cm turntable diameter; those differ slightly from the manual figures. Measure your own appliance and check the space and clearance requirements before planning a fit.

Is the Kambrook KMO400 still available?
CHOICE labels the KMO400 discontinued, and ProductReview.com.au also identifies it as discontinued. A CHOICE public page lists a historical price of $200, not a current price or evidence of present stock. The 12-month replacement warranty in the historical manual should not be treated as a current warranty promise for a second-hand or remaining-stock unit. Kambrook’s current warranty information says coverage depends on the product’s country-specific page and applies only in the country of purchase; ask Kambrook about the specific appliance before relying on any warranty or parts support.

What do owner reviews say about the KMO400?
ProductReview.com.au displayed a 3.7 rating from 24 user reviews when accessed in 2026. Visible comments are mixed: some owners describe straightforward operation or years of use, while others mention a sticking door button, peeling interior coating, uneven defrosting or noise. These are self-selected anecdotes; they do not show how often a problem occurs across all KMO400 units. CHOICE’s public listing says “Not checked microwave” and does not expose its expert rating or cooking, defrosting and ease-of-use scores, which are member-only. Neither source supports calling the KMO400 tested or recommended based on publicly available scores.

- Capacity and fit: compare usable internal capacity and external dimensions, including required ventilation clearance and counter space.
- Output and controls: check microwave wattage, power-level choices and whether the controls suit the people who will use it.
- Defrosting: confirm whether it offers weight-based or timed options that meet your needs.
- Support: check warranty terms for your country, available manufacturer support and the retailer’s return policy.
- Safety: check for a recall covering the exact model and version, not just a similar product name.
Do not assume another 30L, 900W countertop microwave is equivalent: dimensions, controls, warranty and safety status can differ.
