| Example | Listed monthly price | Published configuration |
|---|---|---|
| Basic | $4/month | 1 vCPU, 1 GB RAM, 20 GB NVMe SSD storage, 5 TB internet traffic, Ubuntu Server 24.04 LTS |
| Standard | $25/month | 2 vCPU, 2 GB RAM, 20 GB NVMe SSD storage, 5 TB internet traffic |
| Pro | $39/month | 2 vCPU, 4 GB RAM, 20 GB NVMe SSD storage, 5 TB internet traffic |
The $4 Basic example is a specific configuration, not a general cost for a production server. Check the current options and estimate your own setup in Kamatera’s pricing calculator.
How to estimate your own server cost
In the calculator, select the server configuration and options you need. Kamatera’s product pages expose choices including server type, vCPU, RAM, storage, data center, operating system, and add-ons. The estimate may change if you choose a different operating system or software license, add storage or traffic, or select optional services such as managed service or extended daily backup.
#1 Best Overall
- Choose a server type, then set the number of vCPUs and amount of RAM.
- Choose storage capacity and the data center that suits your deployment.
- Select an operating system and account for any applicable software or licensing costs.
- Review included traffic, billing mode, and optional services or add-ons.
- Check the calculator’s estimate for your complete configuration before ordering.
Kamatera describes its server types as follows: Type A is availability-oriented, Type B is general purpose, Type D is dedicated high performance, and Type T is burstable. The pricing page says Type B CPU threads are dedicated with reserved resources guaranteed. These labels describe Kamatera’s published categories; they do not establish how a particular workload will perform.
What additional usage can cost
Kamatera’s pricing page listed additional traffic at $0.01 per GB and additional storage at $0.05 per GB per month as of October 7, 2026. These rates apply to usage beyond the included allowance; verify the live rates and allowance for your chosen configuration in the calculator before deploying.
Traffic, storage, operating system or software licensing, and selected extras can all affect the estimate. The included resources in the Basic, Standard, and Pro examples should not be treated as universal allowances for every configuration.

| Billing option | How Kamatera describes it | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Monthly | The pricing FAQ describes monthly configurations as prepaid. The billing guide says the full server amount is billed for the month. | When the billing month starts, how upgrades are prorated, and the applicable cancellation boundary. |
| Hourly | Servers are measured by the minute, with different hourly pricing shown for powered-on and powered-off states. Usage is post-billed monthly for the preceding month. | State-based rates and the timing of termination; Kamatera’s pricing FAQ says terminating an hourly server stops further hourly charges. |
Kamatera’s billing guide says additions or upgrades made after the first are prorated and billed the following month. It also says customers who cancel after the first remain charged for the full month’s services. The pricing FAQ phrases the boundary differently: it says customers pay for the current month in which they cancel, and that terminating a monthly server once the new month begins means no charge for that new month. Because these pages describe the monthly cancellation boundary differently, check the dates and terms shown in your account before relying on a particular cutoff.
For hourly servers, Kamatera’s pricing page describes per-minute billing, while its billing guide says the resulting usage is invoiced monthly for the previous month. Check the powered-on and powered-off rates displayed for your configuration; “hourly” does not mean that every minute has the same rate.
Windows VPS example
Kamatera’s Windows VPS page listed an example at $31 per month: one Availability core, 2 GB RAM, 30 GB NVMe storage, 5 TB traffic, and Windows Server 2022 Datacenter 64-bit. This is a provider listing, not a universal Windows server price. Recalculate the configuration and licensing choices for your own needs on the Windows VPS page.

What the 30-day trial includes
Kamatera advertises a free 30-day trial. Its Cloud Servers page specifies the limits: one server costing up to $100 and 1 TB of free traffic, including inbound and outbound traffic. A valid credit card is required. Kamatera says the card is not charged if the stated limits are observed, but customers should terminate the server before the trial ends to avoid charges. Confirm the current terms and terminate the server before the end date if you do not want paid service to continue.
