The current project listing identifies v1.1.2, dated August 30, 2026. Install it through a CurseForge profile, use Java 17 or newer, avoid OptiFine, and plan substantially more memory than a normal vanilla world. For multiplayer, download the separate JWR II ServerPack rather than trying to run the client archive as a server.

JWR II at a glance
| Item | Documented detail |
|---|---|
| Minecraft version | 1.20.1 |
| Mod loader | Forge |
| Current listed release | v1.1.2, dated August 30, 2026 |
| Pack size | More than 560 mods |
| Jurassic Reborn content | 108 prehistoric creatures |
| Fossils & Archeology content | More than 60 revivable creatures |
| Client memory guidance | Allocate 16–20 GB to Minecraft, while leaving headroom for the operating system |
| Java requirement | Java 17 or newer |
| OptiFine status | Incompatible; the pack’s shader path uses Oculus and Rubidium |
| Dedicated-server memory | 14 GB minimum; 16 GB recommended |
| Published multiplayer expectation | Stable 20 TPS with multiple players exploring, subject to the project’s own conditions |
The memory figures are allocations for the game process, not the total physical RAM in the machine. A computer with 16 GB total system memory cannot safely dedicate 16 GB to Minecraft because Windows, Linux, macOS, drivers, and background services also need memory.
What the modpack adds
JWR II is built around dinosaur-focused exploration and survival rather than a small collection of cosmetic mods. Its content systems span fossil hunting, DNA extraction, egg incubation, creature raising, habitat construction, and exploration in both the Overworld and additional dimensions. Jurassic Reborn supplies 108 prehistoric creatures, while Fossils & Archeology adds more than 60 creatures that can be revived.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
The pack also includes extensive world-generation and progression changes. Twilight Forest, the Nether, and the End are part of the advertised exploration loop, so a world can involve long travel, generated structures, and several players loading new chunks at once. That combination explains why first startup and world creation take longer than a lightly modded profile.
Hardware and software requirements
Client computer
- Install the 1.20.1 Forge profile supplied through CurseForge.
- Use Java 17 or a newer supported Java runtime.
- Reserve 16–20 GB of memory for Minecraft only when the computer has enough total RAM to keep the operating system responsive.
- Leave free disk space for the launcher profile, generated chunks, backups, logs, and resource downloads.
- Use a graphics driver that supports the pack’s Oculus/Rubidium configuration.
Dedicated server computer
- Use the separate JWR II ServerPack matching the client release.
- Provide at least 14 GB of server memory; 16 GB is the project’s recommended allocation.
- Run Java 17 and Forge.
- Use fast, reliable storage. Hundreds of mods, generated structures, and exploration can create frequent reads and writes.
- Keep enough additional memory and CPU capacity for the operating system, monitoring, backups, and any control panel.
A provider walkthrough may show a smaller heap such as -Xmx8G. Treat that as a generic example, not as JWR II’s published requirement. The project’s own server guidance is the appropriate baseline when choosing hardware.
Install the client with CurseForge
- Install the CurseForge launcher and create or select a Jurassic World Reborn II profile for Minecraft 1.20.1 Forge. A launcher profile is important because it keeps the mod files, configuration, loader, and instance directory together.
- Open the profile’s Java or memory settings. Select Java 17 or newer, then set the allocated memory within the project’s recommended range if the machine can spare it. Do not assign every gigabyte of physical RAM to the game.
- Launch the profile once without changing mods. The first run creates the instance folders, configuration files, libraries, and logs.
- Close the game and verify that the selected profile still reports Minecraft 1.20.1 and Forge. Do not mix a different Minecraft version or loader with the pack.
- Start the profile again and allow the initial loading process to finish. With more than 560 mods and heavy world-generation systems, a long first load is expected.
- Leave OptiFine out of the instance. The project explicitly marks it incompatible and documents Oculus/Rubidium as the shader solution.
If the launcher offers multiple similarly named profiles, compare the file version and loader rather than choosing by title alone. The server must use the same release that the client profile reports.
Set up a dedicated JWR II server
1. Download the correct archive
Use the project’s files area to obtain the JWR II ServerPack that matches the client release. The listing exposes a separate Minecraft 1.20 Server Pack. The normal client zip contains a client modpack layout; it is not a runnable dedicated server.
2. Extract into a clean directory
Create a new directory used only for this server and extract the ServerPack there. The setup guide says the pack includes mod jars, configuration files, and a start script. Keeping the directory clean makes backups, updates, and troubleshooting much easier than merging files into another Forge installation.

3. Confirm Java and Forge
Point the start script or server environment at Java 17. If Forge is not already included or installed, run the Forge server installer as described by the setup guide, selecting the same Minecraft 1.20.1 version used by the clients. A server launched with another Java major version or an incomplete Forge installation commonly exits before loading the mods.

4. Perform the first boot
- Run the included start script once.
- Wait for the process to generate folders, libraries, configuration files, and the EULA file.
- Stop the process cleanly after generation finishes.
- Open
eula.txt, change the agreement line toeula=true, and save it. - Run the start script again.
Do not judge the server by the first lines printed to the console. Forge must register hundreds of mods before the world is ready. Wait for the completed Done state before attempting to connect or changing performance settings.
5. Set the memory arguments
Configure the script or control panel so the Java heap follows the project’s server guidance: no less than 14 GB, with 16 GB preferred for a busy world. Leave memory for the host operating system and any panel process. If the machine cannot provide that safely, reduce the number of simultaneous players or use a larger host rather than forcing an undersized heap.
6. Keep the server and clients identical
Every player should install the same JWR II release, Minecraft version, Forge loader, and required client files. The server pack and client profile are related but not interchangeable: the server needs its own server-side file layout, while players need the client instance.

Test locally first. A player on the same network can connect using the server computer’s local address. After that works, test from an outside network; some routers do not support testing a public address from inside the same LAN. If outside players cannot connect, check the router forwarding rule, firewall profile, and whether the server is actually listening on the configured port.
Hosted server
A managed host can provide a public address, automated restarts, backups, and a web console, but JWR II still needs the same memory and Forge support. Before paying, verify that the plan allocates the required RAM rather than advertising it as burst memory, accepts a custom CurseForge Forge 1.20.1 ServerPack, allows access to mods and configuration files, and provides restorable backups. Check the data-center location for player latency and read renewal terms separately from any introductory price.
Version matching checklist
| Check | Client | Server | What happens if it differs |
|---|---|---|---|
| Minecraft | 1.20.1 | 1.20.1 | Handshake or registry errors can prevent joining |
| Forge | Pack’s Forge loader | Same Forge line | Loader or mod-initialization failure |
| JWR II release | Same release as server | Matching ServerPack | Missing, extra, or mismatched registry entries |
| Required files | Complete client profile | Complete server files | Disconnects, missing content, or startup errors |
| Java | 17 or newer | 17 | Launch failure or unsupported runtime behavior |
When a player receives a missing-mod or registry message, compare these items before deleting worlds or reinstalling Java. Mixing a client manifest with a server archive is a frequent cause of apparently mysterious join failures.
Performance tuning that fits this pack
Client-side practices
- Use the pack’s Oculus/Rubidium graphics path instead of adding OptiFine.
- Lower view distance and simulation distance if chunk generation causes stutter while exploring.
- Close browsers, recording tools, and launchers that consume memory before starting the game.
- Allow the first shader compilation and texture loading pass to finish before judging steady-state performance.
- Keep the instance on a fast drive and avoid running it from removable or nearly full storage.
Server-side practices
- Start from the published memory baseline and watch actual heap use, garbage-collection pauses, CPU load, and tick time.
- Set a reasonable view distance for the number of explorers. New chunks are more expensive than players remaining in an established base.
- Use scheduled backups before major dimension trips or pack updates.
- Pre-generate only if you understand the storage and time cost; generating a huge area can temporarily consume more resources than normal play.
- Keep the console open during the first exploration session so you can correlate lag spikes with chunk generation or mod errors.
The project’s 20 TPS statement is an expectation published for multiple players exploring, not an independent benchmark. Your result will vary with CPU speed, storage, world complexity, view distance, and the number of simultaneous chunk loads.

Server exits immediately
- Confirm the server is using Java 17.
- Check that Forge was installed for Minecraft 1.20.1.
- Verify
eula=trueappears ineula.txt. - Review the memory arguments for a typo or an allocation larger than the host can provide.
- Read the end of the latest log for the first reported error, not only the final shutdown message.
Players cannot join
Compare the exact pack release, Minecraft version, Forge loader, and installed client files on every machine. Then check the server address, configured port, router forwarding, and firewall. A player running the client zip as a server will not produce a compatible multiplayer endpoint.
First launch appears frozen
Leave the process running while it registers mods and generates data. Watch CPU, disk activity, and the log rather than repeatedly force-closing the window. Only investigate a true hang after there has been no progress for an extended period and the log identifies a repeatable error.

Back up before changes
Stop the server cleanly, copy the world directory, configuration files, server scripts, and any permissions or whitelist files to storage outside the live directory, then record the JWR II release and Java version. A backup that contains only the world but not the configuration can be difficult to restore accurately.
Update in a controlled order
- Read the new release notes and confirm that a matching ServerPack exists.
- Back up the current world and server directory.
- Install the new server files in a separate directory or make a complete copy of the old one.
- Update clients to the same release before inviting players back.
- Start the server without immediately exploring new terrain; watch the console for registry, migration, or configuration errors.
- Keep the previous server copy until players have connected successfully and the world has been verified.
Do not mix configuration sets casually
Copying only selected jars or configs from another release can create subtle registry mismatches. Treat each matching client and ServerPack combination as one tested unit, and change additional mods only after a backup and a separate test world.

Choosing self-hosting versus a managed host
| Decision factor | Self-hosting | Managed host |
|---|---|---|
| Memory | You supply hardware that meets the published baseline | Choose a plan with the required dedicated allocation, not a temporary burst |
| Forge and custom files | Full control over installers, jars, and configs | Confirm custom Forge 1.20.1 ServerPack support before purchase |
| Networking | You manage firewall, router forwarding, and public addressing | The host normally supplies the endpoint and network layer |
| Backups | You design, schedule, and test them | Check retention, restore controls, and whether backups cost extra |
| Latency | Depends on your upload connection and location | Select a data center close to most players |
| Cost | Up-front hardware and electricity | Recurring rental and possible renewal-price changes |
For a small group with a spare, reliable computer and good upload bandwidth, self-hosting offers control and avoids a monthly bill. A managed host is simpler when you need a stable public endpoint, scheduled backups, or support staff, but only if it accepts this unusually large Forge pack and supplies enough memory.

What to expect in play
Progress generally starts with finding fossils and turning them into usable DNA. You then incubate eggs, raise creatures, and build habitats that keep dinosaurs separated and manageable. Exploration is not limited to one biome: the pack’s advertised loop includes the Overworld, Twilight Forest, Nether, and End, with structures and terrain generation that can make travel and chunk loading significant server events.
Because the pack combines more than 560 mods, avoid assuming that a familiar vanilla recipe, keybind, or performance setting behaves unchanged. Read in-game mod descriptions, check the controls menu for conflicts, and make changes one at a time so you can identify which addition caused a problem.
Quick pre-launch checklist
- Client and server both show Minecraft 1.20.1 and the intended Forge loader.
- The client uses Java 17 or newer; the server uses Java 17.
- Client memory is set within the project’s recommended range with operating-system headroom.
- The server has at least the project’s minimum memory and preferably its recommended allocation.
- The client profile was launched once and completed file generation.
- The separate JWR II ServerPack, not the client zip, is installed on the server.
eula=trueis saved after the first server boot.- OptiFine is absent; Oculus/Rubidium remains in place.
- Firewall and router rules expose the configured server port.
- Backups exist before the first shared world session or any update.
The Bottom Line
Use the 1.20.1 Forge profile, Java 17+, and the unmodified Oculus/Rubidium graphics stack on each client. For multiplayer, install the matching JWR II ServerPack on a Forge server with at least 14 GB of memory, 16 GB preferred, accept the EULA after the first boot, and wait for the completed Done state before connecting. Exact version parity and adequate memory matter more than adding extra performance mods.
