It is available for Windows, macOS, and Linux. The feature list is broad, but the available evidence is primarily the publisher’s own descriptions; it does not establish independent performance testing or a security audit.
Is JoPDF free, and which computers does it support?
JoPDF’s publisher says the software is free, with no subscription, trial limit, or watermark. Treat those as the vendor’s stated terms and confirm the current offer on the JoPDF homepage before installing.

The publisher lists desktop builds for Windows, macOS, and Linux. Its download center states that Windows 7 and later and macOS 10.13 and later are supported; macOS downloads are separated for Apple Silicon and Intel. Linux packages and instructions are also listed. Requirements and download choices can change, so check the download center for the current build that matches your computer.
What can JoPDF do?
JoPDF’s product pages advertise a toolkit for common PDF tasks. These are the publisher’s feature claims, not results of an independent test.

|---|---|
| Edit content | Add or modify text, insert or alter images, and work with links. |
| Convert and compress | Convert PDFs to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or image formats; convert common Office and image files to PDF; compress PDFs using three levels. The homepage also advertises batch conversion and compression. |
| Organize pages and files | Merge or split PDFs; add, rotate, sort, or delete pages; create and organize files. |
| Annotate and protect | Highlight, underline, strike through, add notes, draw, use stamps, and password-protect PDFs. |
| Read and print | Open PDFs for viewing and print them. |
The publisher describes these features on its Windows product page and homepage. The pages do not establish how accurately complex formatting survives editing or conversion, or how the software handles scanned documents.
Does JoPDF work offline?
According to JoPDF’s FAQ, editing, annotating, organizing, and protecting PDFs work offline. Conversion has an important setup exception: the FAQ says an internet connection is needed initially to download the converter plugin. After that plugin is installed, the publisher says conversion can work offline. Live updates require connectivity. See the JoPDF FAQ for its account of offline use.
Is JoPDF easy to use?
The FAQ describes a straightforward workflow: select the Edit tab to modify existing text, or use the Page tab and drag and drop pages to change their order. Its listed markup tools include highlighting, underlining, strikethrough, notes, drawing, and stamps.
Rank #2
- Edit PDFs with Ease. Modify text, images, and layouts directly within your PDF documents.
- Convert & Organize. Export PDFs to Word, Excel, or ePub, and organize files with ease.
- Read & Annotate. Enjoy intuitive reading modes and powerful tools to comment, highlight, and mark up PDFs.
- Create & Manage PDFs. Create new PDFs, combine multiple files, scan documents, and compress for easy sharing.
- Fill & Sign Forms. Complete forms and digitally sign documents with secure e-signature tools.
Those instructions give a sense of how the publisher intends common tasks to work, but they are not a usability study. JoPDF’s descriptions of the software as “easy-to-use,” “fast,” or “stable” are marketing claims, not measured results. Tech Nerdiness has described a favorable everyday workflow, but the reviewed account does not provide a transparent, reproducible test protocol. GeekChamp gives JoPDF a 5.8/10 in its own comparison; that is one outlet’s editorial rating, not a consensus score or a benchmark.
What do the privacy and safety claims establish?
JoPDF’s FAQ says files are processed locally and are not uploaded without permission; its homepage describes the application as safe and virus-free. These are vendor assurances. The available sources do not establish an independent code audit, a malware scan for a specific installer version, network-traffic inspection, or security certification.
If you handle sensitive documents, review the current privacy policy and obtain the installer from the official download center. A local-processing claim alone is not independent verification of an application’s security.

Who should consider JoPDF?
JoPDF may be worth considering if you want a desktop application with a wide advertised set of routine PDF tools and the publisher’s free-use terms suit you. Its listed platforms and offline workflow may also fit people who prefer desktop editing, provided they account for the initial converter-plugin download.
The available evidence is not enough to recommend it for workflows that depend on proven OCR, accurate conversion of complex layouts, or independently verified security. Before relying on it for important documents, test your own representative files—especially scanned PDFs, tables, and documents with intricate formatting—and inspect the results. The sources reviewed do not establish those capabilities or outcomes.
