If your JBL Flip 4 won’t turn on, first make sure the speaker and charging area are completely dry. Then try a known-good power supply rated for the speaker’s documented 5 V/1 A input and check the battery LEDs for a charging indication. If it can power on but acts abnormally, a factory reset may help; if it stays completely unresponsive, the reset will not work, and JBL’s published guidance does not identify a single cause for every no-power failure.
Check for moisture before connecting power
If the speaker, charging port, or port cover may be wet, disconnect it and let it dry before charging. JBL warns that exposing the Flip 4 to water while charging may permanently damage the speaker or power source. Its IPX7 rating describes immersion up to 1 metre for up to 30 minutes with cables removed and the cap tightly closed; it is not permission to charge the speaker while wet. Test the power supply
JBL specifies a 5 V/1 A charging input for the Flip 4 and lists a 3.5-hour charge time under that condition. Try a known-good supply that meets the specified rating. The listed time is not a guaranteed recovery period for a deeply discharged, aged, or faulty battery. JBL Flip 4 specifications
JBL’s power-supply troubleshooting advice addresses a particular symptom: buttons that do not work while the speaker is connected to power but work when it runs on battery. In that case, JBL says the supply may not provide enough current and advises using one that meets or exceeds the product’s specified amperage. Use the indicator lights to narrow down what is happening
- Power-button light: JBL says no light means the product is off; a steady light means it is on.
- Battery LEDs: The five indicators show charge level. While charging, a blinking LED indicates progress; when the speaker is fully charged, the battery LEDs turn off.
A dark power light by itself cannot tell you whether the battery is simply drained or a component has failed. JBL Canada: Flip 4 LED indicators
Reset it only if it can turn on
If the speaker powers on but behaves abnormally, turn it on and hold Volume (+) and Play together for more than three seconds, until it powers off. This factory reset erases settings and Bluetooth data, so you will need to pair your devices again. It cannot be performed while the speaker is completely unresponsive. If it remains dead, arrange a repair assessment
If the speaker shows no response after you have checked for moisture and tried an appropriate, known-good power supply, the available JBL instructions do not establish whether the cause is the battery, charging port, or another component. The manufacturer’s guide lists a 3.7 V, 3000 mAh lithium-ion battery specification, but that figure does not diagnose the health of the battery in your unit. The official sources reviewed also do not provide a confirmed user battery-replacement procedure for this problem. Contact JBL support or a qualified repair provider for an assessment rather than assuming a particular part has failed.
