What is the Jaguar Type 01?
The Type 01 is Jaguar’s first production model in a new electric-only era for the marque. Jaguar describes it as a luxury four-door GT, designed, developed and built in the UK. The car is based on Jaguar Electric Architecture (JEA), a dedicated platform for the brand’s electric vehicles.

Jaguar frames the launch as a brand reset, but whether the Type 01 proves a commercial success remains to be seen. The announcement establishes what Jaguar plans to sell, not how the car will perform in independent tests or how buyers will respond.
Price and expected availability
Jaguar announced a starting price of £130,000. That is the stated UK-market price; the announcement does not establish final prices in other currencies or markets. Jaguar expects to open orders in early 2027 and says first deliveries are planned for the second half of 2027. The car is not yet on sale, and Jaguar says final customer models and features may differ before launch.

Range, battery and charging
Jaguar lists a 118kWh battery and anticipated range of up to 400 miles on the EPA cycle or 450 miles (720km) on WLTP. These are Jaguar estimates published before full certification; actual range will depend on the final certified vehicle and driving conditions.
Jaguar also claims that, using a 350kW DC charger, the Type 01 can add up to 200 miles (321km) of range in 13 minutes. That is a manufacturer figure under specified charging conditions, not a guarantee for every charger, battery state or temperature.
A separate Jaguar/JLR figure says up to 99.7 per cent of journeys can be completed without interruption. It comes from JLR’s CAVA analysis of journey data from 920,000 JLR vehicles across 51 markets, collected from October 2023 to October 2024. It describes JLR customer journeys, not a Type 01 road test.

Power and performance claims
The announced powertrain uses three motors and is rated at up to 1,030PS and 1,365Nm of torque. Jaguar claims a 0–62mph time of 3.2 seconds. The company also says the system uses torque vectoring and that the car has a 50:50 weight distribution. These are launch specifications and claims; independent testing has not established real-world performance.

Jaguar says more than 360 patent applications are associated with JEA. That figure refers to the architecture, not a count of independently verified production features on the Type 01.
Design and cabin
Jaguar describes a low roofline, long bonnet and sleek silhouette. Inside, a brass-inspired centre spine separates the cabin into individual spaces for four occupants. The product page lists a 24-inch driver display, a 7-inch secondary control screen, a Meridian panoramic soundbar, a ClearSight rear-view display, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a 5G hotspot.

Jaguar also lists standard all-season tyres, optional summer tyres, and wheel choices including a 21-inch all-season option and 23-inch wheels. Equipment and availability may change before customer cars are delivered, so these should be treated as announced product details rather than a final market-by-market specification.

Jaguar says “Type” nods to its Type-named heritage, including the C-type, E-type and F-type. The “0” represents electric propulsion and zero tailpipe emissions; the “1” marks the first car in a new generation. Jaguar has also described the zero as a symbol of a complete brand reset.

What is confirmed—and what is not
The Type 01 is a substantial shift for Jaguar: a high-priced, electric-only GT with ambitious range, charging and performance targets. But the public specifications remain launch-stage claims. Final certification, market-specific pricing, production equipment and real-world range and charging performance have not yet been established. Any comparison with other electric GTs should use the same market, test cycle and charging conditions rather than unqualified headline figures.
