What is CTB battery technology?
CTB stands for Cell-to-Body. Jackery describes its CTB 2.0 design as integrating battery cells directly into the product’s outer structural chassis. The company says this removes unused space and increases energy density—a familiar design idea in electric vehicles, where battery structure can also contribute to the vehicle body.

For a portable power station, the intended benefit is a smaller, lighter package for a given capacity. Jackery announced the Explorer 1000 Plus v2 and Explorer 2000 Plus v2 at IFA Berlin on 4 September 2026; its UK announcement was updated on 8 September. How much smaller and lighter is the Explorer 2000 Plus v2?
Jackery publishes the v2 at 2,048Wh, 18.8kg and 36.6 × 25.5 × 27.2cm. It says the unit has 60% less volume and weighs 33% less than the original Explorer 2000 Plus. Its predecessor page lists 27.9kg and dimensions of 47.3 × 35.94 × 37.36cm, along with a 2,042.8Wh capacity. These are manufacturer-published specifications; the percentage reductions are Jackery’s comparisons.

What should buyers check before comparing or ordering?
- Compare output as well as capacity. The v2’s announced 2,400W continuous output and 4,800W surge figures differ from the predecessor page’s 3,000W maximum AC output. Check appliance requirements against the exact output rating rather than assuming the newer model is an upgrade in every specification.
- Check the regional product name and battery compatibility. Jackery’s US page uses the related name HomePower 2000 Plus v2 and says it is compatible only with Battery Pack 2000 Plus v2, not the older Battery Pack 2000 Plus. - Keep the predecessor’s specifications separate. The Explorer 2000 Plus EU manual identifies the older unit as model JE-2000C and specifies LiFePO4 chemistry. It is not a source for the v2’s dimensions or output. Explorer 2000 Plus EU manual
- Note the announced sales timing. Jackery said orders would open in the UK and Europe on 14 October 2026. As of 3 October 2026, that date had not yet arrived.
For a practical comparison, consider the physical size and weight alongside usable capacity, continuous and surge output, charging options, expansion support, regional compatibility and independent test results. Jackery’s announcement provides manufacturer specifications, but no independent v2 test results are established here.
