No. USB 3.0 is a USB data specification; USB-C (USB Type-C) is a connector and cable system. A USB-C plug describes its shape, not the data speed, charging capability, or other features it supports.
What USB 3.0 and USB-C mean
USB 3.0 describes data capability
USB 3.0 is part of the USB 3.x family of data specifications. The USB Implementers Forum (USB-IF) says its USB 3.2 specification encompasses earlier 3.x specifications and identifies data rates of 5, 10, and 20 Gbps. Those figures describe data rates, not the shape of a port or plug. See the USB-IF USB 3.2 overview.

USB-C describes the connector system
USB-C, also called USB Type-C, identifies a connector and cable system. A USB-C port or plug does not, by itself, identify a data rate. USB-IF states that “USB 3.2 is not USB Type-C™, USB Standard-A, Micro-USB, or any other USB cable or connector” in its USB 3.2 naming guidance.
How to tell whether a USB-C connection will be fast
Check the capabilities of the port, cable, and connected device—not just the plug shape. USB-IF says USB 3.2 is backward compatible with existing USB products, and a connection operates at the lowest common speed capability. If one part only supports USB 2.0, the connection may be limited to USB 2.0 performance.

- Please Note: To reach 10Gbps speed, keep the cable under 3.3 ft. For USB A Male to USB C adapters, try flipping the USB C connector. USB C Male to USB A adapters support bidirectional 10Gbps transfer within 3.3 ft
- Connector fit: Check the plug at each end, such as USB-C to USB-C or USB-A to USB-C.
- Data capability: Look for the stated USB data specification or rate for the port, cable, and device. The weakest part can limit the connection.
- Power: Check charging and USB Power Delivery support separately; data-speed labels do not establish charging behavior.
- Other functions: If you need a feature beyond ordinary USB data, such as an alternate mode, confirm that each relevant device and cable supports it.
Why some USB-C cables are slower than expected
USB-C cables do not all support the same data signaling. USB-IF warns that “A USB 2.0 Type-C™ cable physically cannot support USB 3.2 nor USB4® signals.” A cable can therefore fit a USB-C port while lacking the signaling capability needed for a faster connection. Check the cable’s stated data performance rather than relying on its connector alone. See the USB-IF Type-C naming guidance.
USB data speed does not tell you charging or display support
USB-IF’s naming guidance separates data performance from connector and power terms: USB 3.2 is not USB Power Delivery or USB Battery Charging. A USB-C connector or USB 3.x data label alone does not establish charging wattage, display support, or support for another feature. Check those specifications independently.
