Ubisoft has not announced a Watch Dogs remake or a new game. At the company’s September 30, 2026 general shareholders’ meeting, CEO Yves Guillemot said the brand might be “potentially remade” someday, while also saying it had not been prioritized against other Ubisoft brands. That is a possibility, not confirmation of a project or release date.
What Ubisoft said about a Watch Dogs remake
Asked why Watch Dogs was not included among Ubisoft’s creative houses, CEO Yves Guillemot said the brand had not been used much, used an engine different from Anvil and Snowdrop, and had not received priority compared with the company’s other existing brands. He added: “It’s still a brand that we consider to be an important brand for the future.” The full answer appears in the published meeting transcript; Ubisoft’s press-center listing confirms the September 30, 2026 meeting date.

The phrase “potentially remade” is conditional. Guillemot did not say Ubisoft had approved a remake, begun development, assigned a team, or set a launch window. His comments point to possible future consideration, not a confirmed game. He also said Watch Dogs had not been prioritized relative to other Ubisoft brands, so calling the remark a near-term announcement would overstate it.

Ubisoft’s latest released main entry is Watch Dogs: Legion, which launched in 2020. Counting from that release year to 2026 gives the six-year framing; it does not mean Ubisoft promised a new game for 2026. Ubisoft identifies Legion as the third entry on its franchise page. Its 2024 film announcement lists the three games and their release years: Watch Dogs (2014), Watch Dogs 2 (2016), and Watch Dogs: Legion (2020).

The settings and Legion mechanic are described by Ubisoft on its franchise page and in its June 2024 film announcement. Ubisoft’s original release-date announcement said the first game would launch worldwide on May 27, 2014.
What is available now?
The established game options are the three released titles: Watch Dogs, Watch Dogs 2, and Watch Dogs: Legion. Ubisoft links to the games from its franchise page. Check the platform and edition before buying, since availability and versions can differ by storefront. None should be described as a remake or a new release.

Ubisoft’s franchise page also says the first Watch Dogs has reached “more than 40 million players worldwide.” The page does not date that figure, so it should not be treated as a current active-player count.
Does the Watch Dogs film mean a game is coming?
No. In its June 5, 2024 announcement, Ubisoft said Tom Blyth and Sophie Wilde had been cast in a Watch Dogs film with an original story set in the game universe, and that production was slated to begin later that summer. The announcement did not give a release date. It is not evidence that a remake or new game has been announced, nor does that announcement establish that the film has since been released.
