Some Samsung tablets have a flashlight and some do not. Whether yours does depends on the model, because the flashlight uses the rear camera’s LED flash. If the tablet has no LED flash, no setting or app can create one.
Why the answer depends on the model
Samsung’s flashlight support guidance says the feature runs on the camera’s LED. A Quick Settings Flashlight tile is only useful when the tablet has that LED behind the rear camera. Software can switch a light on or off, but it cannot turn a missing component into a light. That is why the same Samsung software can offer a flashlight on one tablet and nothing on another.

Samsung has not published a family-wide statement about flashlights on its tablets, so the only reliable answer comes from the specification of the exact model you own. The examples below show how varied the hardware is.

The Galaxy Tab S7 FE response reads, “Unfortunately, the Galaxy Tab S7 FE doesn’t have an LED flash.” That is a community answer, not an official specification, so check Samsung’s own product page for your exact model before relying on it. Megapixel count does not predict flash availability. Two tablets can have similar cameras and only one of them includes a flash.

How to check your exact tablet
- Find the full model name or model code. You can usually read it in the device information section of Settings or on the original box.
- Open Samsung’s official product page for that exact model and go to the rear camera specification.
- Look for “LED flash” or “flash.” If the rear camera specification does not mention a flash, treat the tablet as having no flash.
- Only if the specification confirms a flash, move on to the steps below to find the control.
A support page for a model that links to Samsung’s general flashlight guide does not prove that the model has the hardware. The link explains how the feature works and is not a hardware confirmation.
Turning the flashlight on
Samsung’s Canadian instructions describe the following steps. Menus can differ by model, software version and carrier, so use them as a guide.

- Swipe down from the top of the screen to open Quick Settings.
- Look for the Flashlight icon. If you cannot see it, swipe within the panel, because the icon may sit on another page of Quick Settings.
- Tap the Flashlight icon to turn the light on, and tap it again to turn it off.
When the flashlight is missing or does not work
- The model has no LED flash. Installing a flashlight app will not add hardware. An app may report that no flashlight was found, and that result is correct for a tablet without a flash.
- The Flashlight icon is missing but the model has a flash. Check the Quick Settings panel on another page. If it still does not appear, the tablet’s software version or carrier build may not include the control. Use the Samsung support page for your exact model to confirm the expected menu.
- The model is unclear. Confirm the model code before you follow any instructions or assume a feature is present. Answers about “Samsung tablets” in general are unreliable because the hardware varies.
If your tablet has no flash
If the specification confirms there is no LED flash, a separate handheld light is the practical substitute. The sources behind this guide do not single out a particular accessory, so choose one based on your own needs and the device’s connection options.
