It is safer to keep the Phone (2) away from pools and beaches. Nothing’s related IP54 guidance advises against beach or pool use; salt, sand and water exposure are not a use case to assume the rating covers. Do not deliberately expose the phone to water to test its resistance.

Do not treat the IP54 label as a shower-use guarantee. The cited Nothing sources do not establish that the Phone (2) is safe to use in a shower, where it could be exposed to water beyond the conditions described by its rating.
What if the Phone (2) gets wet?
Nothing’s related IP54 guidance discourages charging the device or operating its buttons while it is wet. Avoid connecting a wet phone to power; let it dry before charging or using its buttons. Nothing’s warranty information says liquid-contact damage is excluded, while its warranty article describes coverage for manufacturing defects under normal use. Exact terms can vary by purchase market, so check the warranty terms that apply where you bought the phone.

A waterproof phone pouch can provide an extra enclosure if you need to keep a phone near water. This is practical accessory guidance, not a Nothing recommendation or a claim that any particular pouch has been tested with the Phone (2).
