StreamYard’s documented prerecorded feature schedules a video to start at a chosen time and ends the broadcast when that video finishes. It does not document automatic repeat playback. It can suit a small channel that wants a distinct, scheduled prerecorded livestream each day, as long as each video fits the plan’s duration limit.
What StreamYard’s prerecorded feature actually does
You can upload a video or select an existing recording, choose YouTube as a destination, set a date and time, and create the broadcast. StreamYard says the prerecorded livestream starts automatically at the scheduled time and ends when playback finishes. That is scheduled playback, not a documented continuous loop. For daily programming, that distinction matters: a new scheduled broadcast can run each day, but the cited feature does not say that one broadcast will repeat the same file until you stop it. If you need a single stream to stay live and loop for hours or days, this feature alone is not a demonstrated fit.

StreamYard documents scheduling up to 365 days ahead. Uploads must be MP4 with H.264 video encoding, can be streamed at up to 1080p, and have a maximum upload bitrate of 10 Mbps. These are prerecorded-feature specifications, not a guarantee that every YouTube channel or connection will deliver identical playback quality. Streaming time, recordings and YouTube archives are separate limits
StreamYard says its paid plans have no StreamYard-side limit on how long a stream can run, while destinations may impose their own rules. That broad statement should not be mistaken for unlimited prerecorded video length: the prerecorded feature has the plan caps above, and StreamYard separately limits its own live-stream recordings to 10 hours per stream on Core, Advanced and Teams, and 24 hours on Business.
StreamYard’s default recording storage is 5 hours on Free, 50 hours on Core, Advanced and Teams, and 700+ hours on Business. If the storage allowance is exceeded, StreamYard says a broadcast can continue but will not be recorded there until space is freed or storage is increased. Prerecorded broadcasts are no longer automatically saved to the StreamYard library, so decide where you will keep the original and any archive you need. YouTube’s own archive behavior is another matter: its help page says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Do not assume a stream lasting 12 hours or longer will be archived. For a daily scheduled video within StreamYard’s prerecorded limits, the 12-hour threshold is less likely to be the constraint, but it remains important if you use a different workflow or run unusually long broadcasts. Is it worth it for a small channel?
It may be worth considering if
- You want a prerecorded video to begin at a scheduled time without someone manually starting that broadcast.
- Your daily video is shorter than the maximum for the plan you would choose.
- A livestream presentation is valuable to your channel, rather than simply publishing a standard YouTube video.
- You have checked the recording and storage limits and know where the source video and any needed archive will live.
It is a poor fit if
- You need one video to repeat automatically in a continuous or 24/7 stream; the documented feature ends when playback finishes.
- Your video exceeds the plan’s maximum prerecorded length.
- You only need to upload a normal video and do not need a scheduled livestream.
- You are choosing solely on price without checking your own checkout. The consulted StreamYard help material does not state current plan prices, so compare the current billing options directly before subscribing.
Prerecorded streaming is not available on StreamYard’s Free plan. Paid plans list the feature, but recording capacity and storage are distinct limits; confirm the current plan details and price at checkout rather than assuming that “paid” means every production need is covered.

Set up the YouTube channel and protect the content
YouTube says a channel must be verified and must not have live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days to use live streaming. After enabling live streaming, activation can take up to 24 hours. StreamYard’s YouTube connection guide says live streaming may need to be enabled in YouTube first. StreamYard also says its desktop workflow can bypass YouTube’s mobile-app subscriber requirement; treat that narrowly as StreamYard’s support guidance, not an exemption from YouTube’s other live-stream requirements. Repetition does not automatically disqualify a channel, but YouTube’s monetization policy applies to livestreams and expects original, authentic content. Its July 15, 2025 clarification renamed “repetitious content” as “inauthentic content” and clarified that repetitive or mass-produced material is covered. A recurring format can be acceptable when each installment has meaningful differences; repeated material with little variation or viewer value can put monetization eligibility at risk. You are responsible for the rights needed to broadcast and archive the video, including music rights where applicable. YouTube’s livestream terms require the necessary rights for live and archived content, and require live content to comply with Community Guidelines. Check YouTube’s Terms of Service before scheduling a loop containing music, clips, or other third-party material.

- Measure the finished video. Match its full duration to Core’s 2-hour, Advanced’s 4-hour, or Teams/Business’s 8-hour prerecorded limit.
- Check the file. Use MP4 with H.264 video, stay within the plan’s file-size limit, and keep upload bitrate at or below 10 Mbps.
- Confirm the workflow. Schedule one broadcast per day if that is your intended format; do not count on the scheduled video repeating after it ends.
- Check the destination and archive. Confirm YouTube live streaming is enabled, and plan separately for YouTube’s under-12-hour automatic archive rule and StreamYard’s recording/storage allowances.
- Review the actual checkout. Compare billing cadence, cancellation terms, and the current price for your region before committing. The consulted documentation does not provide a price to quote.
