Samsung Internet may be a better fit than Chrome if your main frustration is finding and organizing a crowded set of tabs on a Galaxy phone. It offers several tab layouts, named groups, and controls for closing or reopening tabs. Those features can make a tab-heavy workflow feel easier, but they do not prove Samsung’s browser is universally smoother or faster: no same-device benchmark establishes that advantage.
Why Samsung Internet can feel better with a crowded tab bar
The practical difference is how you keep track of pages. Samsung’s current US support guide documents List, Stack, and Grid layouts, with thumbnails for open tabs. If you prefer scanning page previews or want a different arrangement from Chrome’s, those choices may reduce the effort of finding a particular page. The available guide does not establish that one layout is faster for everyone, and the interface can vary by app version and device. Samsung’s tab guide explains the controls.

Groups help separate tasks
Samsung Internet lets you create tab groups with names and colors. A group can make it easier to keep, for example, trip planning separate from work research without relying on one long sequence of unrelated tabs. Groups organize pages; they are not evidence that those pages use less memory or load faster.
Switching and recovering tabs
Samsung also documents switching tabs by swiping left or right on the URL bar or bottom toolbar. If you close a page by mistake, the browser’s tab controls include reopening a closed tab. These features address two common sources of friction—moving among pages and recovering one—without requiring a claim about speed. Samsung’s Android browser overview describes the swipe gesture.

How to organize many tabs in Samsung Internet
- Choose a tab layout: Open the tab switcher and select List, Stack, or Grid. Samsung’s support guide documents these options; the precise menu labels or location may differ with the app version and device.
- Create groups for distinct tasks: In the tab switcher, use the tab-group control to create a group, then give it a name and color. Move related pages into the same group so they are easier to locate together.
- Switch without reopening the tab overview: Swipe left or right on the URL bar or bottom toolbar to move between tabs, as described in Samsung’s developer documentation.
- Set an automatic closing rule only if it suits your habits: Samsung documents Never, after 7 days, after 30 days, and “Within smart tab management.” The support guide says automatic closing can help free device memory, but does not quantify the savings. Pick a rule with your tolerance for losing old open pages in mind.
- Recover a page when needed: Use the tab controls to reopen a closed tab. Samsung also documents options to close one tab or all tabs.
These controls can improve organization, but tab layout and grouping are not a controlled performance test. If the browser feels more responsive on your phone, that remains an experience tied to your device, software, pages, and workload.
What a fair Chrome comparison can—and cannot—show
Google’s Chrome help page describes Memory Saver as a desktop feature: it deactivates inactive tabs, which reload when visited. Google says Chrome’s performance settings cannot be personalized on Android or iOS. That desktop behavior is not a like-for-like comparison with Samsung Internet on a Galaxy phone, so it should not be used to claim that Chrome for Android handles background tabs in the same way. See Google’s Chrome performance settings guidance.

- Please note, this device does not support E-SIM; This 4G model is compatible with all GSM networks worldwide outside of the U.S. In the US, ONLY compatible with T-Mobile and their MVNO's (Metro and Standup). It will NOT work with other CDMA carriers, and it is also not compatible with their MVNO (Visible, Xfinity Mobile, US Mobile, Cricket Wireless, etc).
- Compatibility with certain third-party devices and accessibility accessories, including some hearing aids, may vary depending on manufacturer support, Bluetooth protocols, software compatibility, and regional firmware limitations. For additional hearing aid compatibility information, please refer to Samsung’s official support documentation.

Samsung’s developer policy documentation discusses the general trade-off associated with more aggressive memory saving: fewer resources held by background pages can mean more reloads and network traffic. It does not provide a directly comparable Android setting or a measured Samsung-versus-Chrome result. Samsung’s MemorySaverModeSavings page explains that trade-off.

Continuing between a Galaxy phone and a Windows PC
Samsung announced Samsung Browser for Windows on March 26, 2026. Its announcement describes continuing the same webpage between mobile and PC, as well as multi-tab context features. Samsung lists Windows 11 and Windows 10 version 1809 or later as supported. The announcement said its Windows and Android AI features were available in South Korea and the United States at that time, subject to network, account, app-version, language, and regional conditions. Availability can change; check Samsung’s current details before relying on a particular feature. The announcement is Samsung’s description of its own product, not an independent assessment: Samsung’s Windows launch announcement.

Content blocking and extensions
Samsung says content-blocking filters require separate apps; Samsung does not supply the filters itself. The company says blockers may reduce clutter, loading time, data use, or battery use, but those are potential benefits, not measured outcomes in a browser comparison. If filtering is important to you, check the available extensions and their requirements before choosing a browser. Samsung’s developer overview describes content blockers.
Accounts, passwords, and your own performance priorities
Whether you keep Samsung Internet or Chrome may also depend on the account and password workflow you already use, as well as the pages and services you rely on. The available product documentation does not settle every account, password, or extension comparison for Android. Check those specific workflows on your phone rather than assuming the tab-management features resolve them.

Performance is also device- and workload-dependent. A meaningful personal comparison uses the same phone, software versions, pages, network conditions, and pattern of tab switching in both browsers. Without those controlled conditions, “smoother” is a useful description of one person’s experience, not a general ranking.

Who should try Samsung Internet?
- Try it if you want tab thumbnails, alternate layouts, named and colored groups, or a swipe gesture for moving among tabs.
- Keep your current browser if its account, password, or desktop workflow matters more to you than Samsung’s tab organization, or if it already handles your everyday workload well.
- Test before making a permanent switch if you depend on background pages staying ready, content blockers, or phone-to-PC continuity. Those needs involve behavior and availability that tab layouts alone do not answer.
