OnePlus is not confirmed to be shutting down worldwide. The company says it will stop launching new products in Europe and North America, while continuing support for existing devices. A OnePlus 16 announcement—and evidence of strong demand for that phone—has not been established by the sources reviewed.
Is OnePlus shutting down?
No global shutdown has been announced in the material available. OnePlus said it had decided to conclude new product rollouts in Europe and North America. Its statement to TechCrunch, reported on July 16, 2026, was: “After careful assessment, OnePlus will no longer launch new products in Europe and North America.” TechCrunch reported the statement; OnePlus also published an official notice.

Those are regional product-launch plans, not proof that OnePlus has ceased all worldwide operations. The Economic Times reported that OnePlus India would continue, citing a company statement to NDTV Profit. TechCrunch reported that the company planned to continue operating in China. These reports distinguish the European and North American move from a global closure.
What happens to existing OnePlus phones?
OnePlus says existing devices will continue to receive software updates, security patches, after-sales support, and applicable warranty coverage, subject to the company’s terms. It also says eligible owners may have the option to update to ColorOS 17 after its official release. Eligibility and timing depend on the device, so owners should check the published support terms for their model rather than assume every phone will receive the same update.

Has OnePlus announced the OnePlus 16?
The sources reviewed do not verify a OnePlus 16 announcement, release date, official specifications, or preorder availability. Treat the model as unconfirmed. Any separately reported leak or rumor should be labeled as such, not presented as an official product detail.

There is no model-specific evidence here—such as search-trend data, preorder totals, or company sales figures—to establish strong demand for a OnePlus 16. People asking about a possible phone show curiosity, but that is not the same as measured purchase intent.
Brand-level market-share figures offer context about OnePlus’s position, but they do not measure interest in an unreleased model. The Economic Times reported that TechInsights put OnePlus’s global smartphone market share at 1.1% in 2024 and 0.9% in 2025, with 0.8% forecast for 2026. The 2026 number is a forecast, not a measured result. The same report cited IDC figures showing OnePlus India’s smartphone market share by volume at 4% in Q2 2024 and 2% in Q2 2025. The Economic Times report attributes the figures to those research firms; they describe overall brand share, not OnePlus 16 demand.

The OnePlus 15 is a documented existing flagship and a more concrete reference for shoppers than an unannounced successor. A July report said it was available for purchase at that time, but that historical mention does not confirm stock today. Check current availability, warranty coverage, and support in your region before buying. Do not treat the OnePlus 15 as a substitute for a OnePlus 16 with unknown specifications, price, and release timing.
If deciding whether to buy an existing phone or wait, compare what is actually confirmed: local availability, regional support, applicable software and warranty commitments, and verified specifications and price. For the OnePlus 16, those product details remain unverified in the sources reviewed.
