Is Network Solutions a Good Domain Registrar? (2026 Review)

Network Solutions suits buyers who want domains, SSL and privacy in one account, but its renewal prices can be several times the first-year listing. Here is what its published terms say about renewals, transfers and privacy.

Network Solutions is a workable choice if you want a domain name, its add-on services and one account to manage them, but the first-year price is the wrong number to judge it by. Its .com listing starts at $11.99 and renews at $22.99, and most of the cost question sits in that gap. Its own pages cannot prove how well its support or uptime performs, so the assessment below rests on its published terms for pricing, transfers, privacy and SSL.

This is a reading of Network Solutions’ published terms, not hands-on testing or an independent measurement of uptime or support.

Renewal prices are the number to check first

Network Solutions’ domain page lists sample annual prices for six extensions. Each figure applies to a one-year term, and products renew automatically at the then-current rate unless canceled. Promotional pricing and cart totals can change, so treat these as the vendor’s displayed figures rather than a locked quote.

Extension First-year price Listed renewal price Renewal increase (calculated from listed figures)
.com $11.99 $22.99 about 92%
.org $14.99 $29.99 about 100%
.net $1.25 $24.99 about 1,899%
.online $0.99 $52.99 about 5,252%
.info $6.99 $31.99 about 358%
.biz $19.99 $35.99 about 80%

The effect is easiest to see over time. A .com bought at the $11.99 listing and renewed at the listed $22.99 costs $103.95 across five years: one $11.99 year and four $22.99 renewals. Keeping the first-year rate for all five years would total $59.95, so the entire difference comes from renewals. This arithmetic assumes the listed prices hold and that no add-ons are bought.

How to check the real renewal cost before you pay

  1. Enter the exact extension and term in the cart, and note the total charged today.
  2. Look for the renewal rate in the order summary or terms before you confirm the purchase.
  3. Record the renewal date and how cancellation works. Products renew at the then-current rate unless canceled, so an unnoticed renewal is the most likely way to pay more than you planned.
  4. Add privacy or SSL products only after checking their renewal terms, since they follow the same automatic renewal rule.
  5. Calculate a three-year or five-year total using the renewal rate, not the first-year price.

Transferring a domain to Network Solutions

Network Solutions says inbound transfers typically take five to seven days. Its transfer help page states: “Typically, domain transfers take five to seven days to complete.” Timing and cost depend on several conditions, summarised below.

Item Stated terms Condition or caveat
Transfer fee $10.99 non-refundable service fee per domain transfer request Stated on the transfer offer page; the amount due can depend on the selected term and extension, so check the cart
Extension offer One-year extension added at no extra cost Applies only if the transfer completes within 90 days of purchase
Typical timing Five to seven days Described as typical, not guaranteed
Completion Not guaranteed Stated on the transfer offer page
Restriction after registration or a prior transfer General 60-day restriction Exceptions and extension-specific eligibility rules apply, per the transfer help page

Transferring a domain away from Network Solutions

Network Solutions warns that moving a domain out can disrupt a website, email or other connected services. Only the account’s Primary Contact can make certain changes, including turning off the transfer lock and requesting an authorization code, so confirm who holds that role before starting. If you keep using Network Solutions hosting or email after the transfer, DNS records may need updating to keep those services working.

  • Confirm that the Primary Contact can sign in to the account.
  • Turn off the transfer lock, then request the authorization code, both as the Primary Contact.
  • Write down the current DNS records and any mail services that depend on them.
  • Choose a quiet period for the move, and check the website and email once the transfer completes.

Domain privacy and what it does not settle

Network Solutions describes Domain Privacy + Protection as replacing mandatory registrant contact information in public WHOIS with proxy information. Its description also covers blacklist and virus monitoring. The description does not state the service’s current price or whether it is included by default for every domain, so confirm both at checkout before assuming either.

SSL certificates

Network Solutions sells SSL certificates with domain-validated and organization-validated options. Its product page displays Xpress at $82.44 per year and Basic at $153.89 per year, both on a two-year term, and says standard pricing appears in the cart. All plans and products renew automatically at the then-current rate unless canceled.

Plan Displayed price Billing term shown Validation level
Xpress $82.44 per year Two-year term Not stated in the vendor listing text
Basic $153.89 per year Two-year term Not stated in the vendor listing text

The per-year figures are the displayed offer, not a permanent price. The listing does not make clear whether the cart charges the two-year total up front, so check that line before paying.

Domain.com accounts moving to Network Solutions

Network Solutions’ Domain.com FAQ says accounts and services moving to Network Solutions keep their current pricing, billing, renewal dates, contract terms and DNS settings, and customers do not need to change DNS. These assurances describe that consolidation. They are not a blanket promise for every Network Solutions customer, so check the terms in your own account if your domain came from Domain.com.

Where the registrar fits and where it does not

Network Solutions suits buyers who want a domain together with SSL, privacy and possibly hosting or email under one login, and who will compare renewal totals before committing. Readers who already run Network Solutions hosting or email have a clear reason to keep DNS and billing together.

It is a weaker fit for buyers whose main goal is the lowest multi-year cost, because several listed extensions roughly double or more at renewal. It is also a poor basis for a support or uptime decision on its own, since the published material does not establish how either performs against other registrars. Comparing it with another registrar requires that registrar’s own terms, which are outside this assessment.

When you compare, judge the renewal total, the privacy and SSL costs you would actually add, the transfer-in fee and timing, and how much control you retain over transfer-out.

Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
