The $29.97 Visual Studio Professional offer is not confirmed as available on October 11, 2026. Deal reports put its latest stated end time on the night of October 3, so the headline’s “few hours left” claim is stale unless the seller has posted a new offer with current terms.
Is the $30 Visual Studio Professional deal still live?
There is no verified evidence that the $29.97 offer remains available on October 11, 2026. Boing Boing reported on October 3 that the offer ran through that night; that report does not establish availability eight days later. Earlier Macworld/DealPost coverage gave different deadlines: August 30 in its August 28 report and August 23 in its August 12 report. Those dates show the promotion was reported at different times, not that it is still open now.

Before buying, check the actual checkout page for the current price, expiration date and time zone, seller, product SKU, eligible region, redemption instructions, and refund terms. A search-result headline or an older deal article is not proof that a checkout offer remains valid. Boing Boing’s October 3 report, Macworld/DealPost’s August 28 report, and its August 12 report document past promotion claims, not a live offer today.

The product name alone does not tell you what you are buying. Microsoft distinguishes a standalone Visual Studio Professional IDE purchase from a Professional subscription. The standalone IDE purchase does not include subscription benefits. Depending on the subscription level and purchase channel, a subscription may include benefits such as Azure credits, Azure DevOps access, software downloads, or support.

Microsoft’s Visual Studio Licensing Guidance explains licensing distinctions; its pricing page lists product options separately. If a third-party offer calls the purchase “lifetime access,” do not assume that phrase includes future major-version upgrades, subscription benefits, cloud services, or subscriber downloads. Confirm the license grant and version rights in the offer’s own terms.
How does the reported offer compare with Microsoft’s listed options?
Microsoft’s pricing page, accessed October 11, 2026, displayed the following prices. These are comparison points, not confirmation of the third-party promotion, and prices can change.
Rank #2
| Purchase type | Displayed price | What the distinction means |
|---|---|---|
| Professional subscription, billed monthly | $45 per user per month | Subscription option; benefits depend on level and channel. |
| Professional subscription, billed annually | $99.99 per user per month, paid annually | Annual billing for a subscription, not a standalone one-time IDE purchase. |
| Standalone Professional IDE | $499 | IDE purchase; Microsoft says it does not include subscription benefits. |
The $29.97 price and $499.99 reference price in the August 28 Macworld/DealPost report are that report’s promotion claims, not Microsoft’s verified current pricing. The offers’ exact SKUs and license terms are not established by the deal reports themselves.

What to verify before paying
- Product and license: Identify whether the checkout sells a standalone IDE license or a subscription, and read what version and upgrade rights the license grants.
- Seller and fulfillment: Confirm who takes payment, who provides the license, and how Microsoft redemption or activation works. Do not treat a deal article as proof that a key is valid.
- Timing and geography: Check the live expiration date, time zone, eligible countries, and any redemption deadline.
- Benefits and limits: Determine whether subscription benefits are included or excluded; do not infer them from the word “Professional” or “lifetime.”
- Refund terms: Read the seller’s policy for unused, redeemed, or invalid keys before checkout.
For subscription billing questions, Microsoft’s purchasing, renewing, canceling, or billing FAQ covers subscription administration. It does not validate a separate third-party promotion.
